Thiourea is an organosulfur compound with the formula SC(NH2)2. RC(S)NR2, where R is methyl, ethyl, etc. Thiourea is originated from laburnum shrubs and is also a natural metabolite of the fungi Verticillium alboatrum and Bortrylius cinerea with no significant emissions into the air from the industrial use of thiourea as a catalyst in the synthesis of fumaric acid, diazo paper, or metal polish, whereas releases to surface water are unclear.
