The best business ideas in Andhra Pradesh sit next to something the state already grows, catches or weaves: Guntur's chilli, Chittoor's Totapuri mangoes, the coastal pond belt, and the crafts of Kondapalli and Etikoppaka that carry a Geographical Indication (GI) tag. The 15 below split into eight processing or manufacturing units, three farm-linked businesses and four services that need a skill and a phone more than a shed.
With a shed and money for machines, start with chilli powder and spice packing or paper plates. With savings but no premises, pickles, a tiffin counter or event services let you begin without a plant.
Two recent changes are missing from most lists. The Centre's Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme, a subsidy on bank-funded projects, ran only to 31 March 2026, and its renewal was still awaiting approval when the Centre told Parliament on 3 August. And the 2025 mango glut left pulp factories holding unsold stock.
15 best business ideas in Andhra Pradesh, matched to local inputs
The first eight rows are processing or manufacturing. More options sit in our low-investment business ideas and village business ideas lists. In the last column, FSSAI is the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, which registers food businesses, and Udyam is the government's registration portal for micro, small and medium enterprises.

Which of the 15 suits what you already have: a shed, savings or a skill?
Match the idea to your scarcest resource, not to the one that looks most profitable on paper.
- Land or a shed: chilli grinding, rice milling, poultry, dairy and shrimp use space well.
- A few lakh, no premises: pickles, a tiffin counter, tailoring or event services can start from rented space or your own kitchen.
- A skill, little cash: digital marketing and training carry almost no stock risk.
- A farming or craft community: crafts, mango and chilli businesses depend on buying well from people who trust you.
Before ordering a machine, run the first batches as job work at an existing unit and note what buyers pay. The district industries centre can point you to such units, and the state's industrial clusters show where they are concentrated.
Where do these Andhra Pradesh businesses go wrong?
Three of the 15 carry risks that generic lists skip.
Mango pulp
A Press Trust of India report from July 2025 put unsold stock at pulp factories in Chittoor, Tirupati and Annamayya at about 80,000 tonnes, after domestic demand and exports weakened. The state set a support price of ₹4 per kg for Totapuri fruit. Sign supply agreements with beverage or jam makers before building a line, and size the unit to those orders.
Shrimp farming
The Coastal Aquaculture Authority says every person carrying on coastal aquaculture must register the farm, for five years at a time. Lease only a pond that is registered or can be, and see the papers before paying an advance.
Paper plates and bags
The environment ministry's 2022 notification created the demand, but you still compete with areca-leaf plates and paper plates made in other states. Quote caterers directly instead of relying on shop sales.
What help can a new micro unit in Andhra Pradesh get in 2026?
The state's MSME and Entrepreneur Development Policy 4.0 (2024-29), as amended by G.O.Ms.No.22 of February 2025, pays a new micro enterprise the following. Capital subsidy applies to new units only.
| Support | General micro unit | Owner from a special category |
|---|---|---|
| Capital subsidy on fixed capital investment | 25%, up to ₹25 lakh, in two instalments | 45%, up to ₹45 lakh |
| Power cost reimbursement, 5 years | ₹1 per unit, capped at ₹1 lakh a year | ₹1.5 per unit, same cap |
| Net state GST (SGST) reimbursement, 5 years | 100%, capped at 5% of turnover a year | Same |
The special category means enterprises wholly owned by women, backward classes, Scheduled Castes or Tribes, minorities, specially-abled or transgender entrepreneurs with state domicile. The subsidy is released in instalments after the unit starts, so confirm the application route on the state's MSME portal before signing a machinery order.
As of October 2026, central schemes are less certain. The Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) offered margin-money support on bank-funded projects up to ₹50 lakh in manufacturing and ₹20 lakh in services, according to the Delhi Khadi and Village Industries Board's summary. The Ministry told the Rajya Sabha in August 2026 that the scheme ran only to 31 March 2026 and that further subsidy release depends on approval to continue it. Check the KVIC portal before building a plan around it.
The food-sector PMFME scheme (Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises) gave micro processors a 35% subsidy up to ₹10 lakh and was extended to September 2026, with a successor under consideration as of July. Guntur district's own page lists eight chilli units sanctioned under it in 2023-24. The state's scheme list tracks what is open now.
What to do in the next two weeks
- Shortlist two ideas and note, for each, the one input you can get cheaper or sooner than a stranger.
- Register on Udyam, which the portal says is free and needs only an Aadhaar number. Then ask your district industries centre which units take job work and which subsidies are open.
- Get written quotes from three equipment suppliers, including power load and floor area; those decide your shed size and electricity connection.
- Speak to five likely buyers before ordering: caterers for plates, retailers for pickles, wedding planners for event work.
- Cost the plan on paper with fixed costs, working capital and a slow first quarter. Banks and schemes ask for a project report.

Frequently asked questions about business in Andhra Pradesh
What business can I start in Andhra Pradesh with ₹50,000?
Start with pickles and masala mixes, a home tiffin or cloud kitchen, or event coordination with rented equipment, since none needs a machine. Food businesses still need FSSAI registration, so keep part of the budget for it. A grinder, mill or pond will cost more than ₹50,000.
Which business can I start with ₹1,000?
Only a service you can already deliver, such as tuition, tailoring alterations or social media posts for local shops. Sell to your first three customers before spending on anything else. Register on Udyam once income begins; the portal charges nothing for it.
Is a dealership a good business in Andhra Pradesh?
It can be, but the company, not you, sets your margin and territory. Before paying, ask for the written dealer agreement, the margin on each product, the security deposit and the policy on unsold stock. Treat a joining fee demanded before you see a price list as a warning sign.
Which small-scale businesses suit a village in Andhra Pradesh?
Choose ideas that use produce grown nearby: chilli grinding, pickles, rice milling, dairy, or craft work if your village is a craft centre. Transport costs stay low when the raw material is next door, and weekly markets let you sell before you build a retail brand.
