The Bihar government schemes that pay out directly in 2026 fall into five groups: start-up money for a new business, a grant for women, allowances and loans for young people, an incentive for girls who finish Intermediate, and a monthly pension for people aged 60 and above. The largest cheque is the Mukhyamantri Udyami Yojana, which offers up to ₹10 lakh, half as a grant and half as a loan. Women receive ₹10,000 first and up to ₹2 lakh more under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana. Unemployed youth aged 20 to 25 can get ₹1,000 a month for up to two years, and elders get ₹1,100 a month. Rules and dates below are checked as of October 2026.

Free electricity, up to 125 units from 1 August 2025 according to All India Radio, is separate.
How does the ₹10 lakh Udyami Yojana work, and when can you apply?
Nobody is promised ₹10 lakh by default. The scheme's FAQ says the amount depends on the project category: half the project cost is a grant of up to ₹5 lakh and the other half a loan of up to ₹5 lakh. The loan is interest-free, except in the Yuva Udyami category, which charges 1%. Repayment runs over 84 monthly instalments, starting 12 months after the final instalment reaches you.
Quotas exist for SC/ST, Extremely Backward Class, women, youth and minority applicants. Salaried people earning above ₹15,000 a month cannot apply, and trading is not funded. You apply against a fixed project list on the portal, covering food processing, fabrication, electrical assembly, textiles and handicrafts, so match your plan to a listed type first. Our guide to manufacturing business ideas in Bihar helps with that match.
The 2025-26 round opened on the portal on 25 February 2026, and the deadline was extended to 23 March 2026. A computerised lottery produced the selected and waiting lists on 20 May 2026, and the final list followed on 11 June 2026. Applicants on the provisional list had until 24 June 2026 to upload documents or lose their place. That round is closed, so watch the portal's notices for the next window.
Keep ready your domicile, age, education and caste proofs, a live photo and signature, a detailed project report if asked, and a GPS-tagged photo of the machinery. Earlier-year beneficiaries were given 30 June 2026 as a final date to upload utilisation certificates.
What does the ₹10,000 Mahila Rozgar Yojana give women?
The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana, launched in September 2025, gives one woman from each family ₹10,000 to start work of her choice. Six months after the work begins, an assessment decides whether she receives up to ₹2 lakh more, paid in four instalments. The follow-up depends on need and is not guaranteed, so treat the first ₹10,000 as seed capital. Self-help group members under Jeevika, the state's rural livelihood mission, are the main beneficiaries, according to All India Radio.
The official page does not say whether one woman can draw on this scheme and the women's category of the Udyami Yojana for the same plan. Ask your block or district office before counting on both.
Which schemes suit students and young people after Class 10 or 12?
The training, allowance and student loan schemes share one site, the Saat Nishchay youth mission portal. For the training and allowance, you apply online and then take your documents to a District Registration cum Counselling Centre within 60 days. The Kushal Yuva Program trains youth who left school after Class 10 or 12. Those aged 20 to 25 who complete it can claim ₹1,000 a month for up to two years, with a bank account linked to Aadhaar. The Student Credit Card covers general, technical and professional courses.
The portal warns that emails from an mnssby sender are fake, so apply only on the official site.
For girls, the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana paid ₹25,000 to unmarried girls who passed Intermediate in 2026, and Patna Press reported in July 2026 that the Education Department had released ₹700 crore for it.
What do elders and farmers get from the state?
The Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana pays ₹1,100 a month from June 2025 to people aged 60 and above, according to the Bihar government's pension page. Anyone already drawing a salary, pension or family pension from the central or state government is excluded.
Farmers should read the current notices for the Bihar Rajya Fasal Sahayata Yojana, which covers crop loss, and the input subsidy schemes on the Bihar Krishi portal before planning around any rate.
Is any state incentive meant for larger factories?
Yes, but it is built for big investors. The Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Package 2025, approved on 26 August 2025, offers a 30% capital subsidy on approved project cost as one of three incentive models, according to Drishti IAS. Its land offers start at very large investment tiers. Patna Press reported in July 2026 that the cabinet extended the incentives to 31 December 2026, or until a new industrial policy starts, whichever is earlier.
Smaller units usually look instead at the Udyami Yojana and the central PMEGP, or at PM Vishwakarma Yojana if they are artisans. To see where land and clusters sit, read about industrial areas in Bihar.
How do you pick one scheme and apply without losing a cycle?
Pick by your situation, not by the biggest number. A woman with a small home business and no project plan fits the Mahila Rozgar Yojana. A workshop plan that matches a listed project type fits the Udyami Yojana. A Class 12 pass-out not continuing study fits the Kushal Yuva Program.
- Keep Aadhaar, domicile, education and caste certificates and an Aadhaar-linked bank account ready before any window opens.
- Apply only on portals ending in bihar.gov.in, and read the guideline for the year you are applying.
- For the Udyami Yojana, write a short project plan covering machinery, raw material and selling price, since the guideline asks for a detailed project report if required.
- Upload every document before the stated date, since missing the June 2026 one cancelled candidature.
- Keep GPS-tagged photos of the machinery for the utilisation certificate.
Schemes that work in every state are covered in our guide to government schemes in India.
