To apply for PM Vishwakarma Yojana online in 2026, take your Aadhaar, the mobile number linked to it and your bank account details to a Common Service Centre (CSC). The operator registers you on the official portal after a fingerprint or iris scan, and enrolment is free. You can log in yourself later to track the application, but the government's September 2026 note says applications are submitted only through CSCs.
Once a local body, a district committee and a final committee approve you, you receive a certificate and ID card, then 5 to 7 days of paid training at ₹500 a day, a toolkit voucher of up to ₹15,000, and a collateral-free loan of up to ₹3 lakh at 5% interest, in two stages. Only craftspeople in 18 listed family trades qualify, one person per family, and government employees are excluded. The 30 lakh registration target has already been met, so confirm with your CSC that your district is still enrolling before you collect papers.
How do you apply for PM Vishwakarma online in 2026?
SIDBI's application guide describes one CSC enrolment followed by three checks, with an SMS at each approval stage.
- Visit the nearest CSC with your Aadhaar, the linked mobile number and bank account details. A ration card helps the operator map your family.
- The operator logs in on the PM Vishwakarma portal with the CSC's own account, enters your Aadhaar number, confirms the OTP and takes your fingerprint or iris scan.
- The operator enters your trade, address, family and bank details. Read the trade and spelling before it is submitted, because later stages check this record.
- Your record goes through the three checks below.
- After final approval you receive the certificate and ID card, and move to training and the loan.
| Stage | Who checks | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Head of the Gram Panchayat or executive head of the urban local body | Confirms you practise the trade in that area |
| 2 | District Implementation Committee, chaired by the District Collector | Vets the record and recommends it |
| 3 | Screening Committee | Gives final approval |
Who is eligible for PM Vishwakarma, and which of the 18 trades count?
- Age and work: 18 or above, self-employed, working with hands and tools in one of the 18 listed family trades.
- Loan history: no similar self-employment or business loan under a government scheme in the previous five years, counted from the sanction date according to Indian Bank's guideline page. Borrowers who fully repaid a Mudra or PM SVANidhi loan remain eligible, and a Hindi guide to Mudra Yojana explains the first.
- Family: one beneficiary per family, meaning husband, wife and unmarried children.
- Exclusions: government employees and their families. Indian Bank's page adds that accounts marked NPA (non-performing asset) or written off are not considered for the loan.
The government's guideline summary names the trades below, grouped here by material.
| Trade group | Trades on the list | Related reading |
|---|---|---|
| Wood and boats | Carpenter (Suthar), boat maker | Wood business ideas |
| Metal and tools | Blacksmith (Lohar), armourer, hammer and tool kit maker, locksmith | None |
| Gold and stone | Goldsmith (Sonar), sculptor or stone carver, stone breaker | Jewellery manufacturing |
| Clay and building | Potter (Kumhaar), mason (Rajmistri) | None |
| Fibre, leather and nets | Cobbler or footwear artisan, basket, mat, broom or coir maker, fishing net maker | Bamboo products business |
| Toys and services | Traditional doll and toy maker, tailor (Darzi), garland maker (Malakaar), barber (Naai), washerman (Dhobi) | Toy manufacturing |
Plumbers, electricians, mobile or electronics repairers and photographers are not on this central list. Uttar Pradesh runs a separate Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana 2.0, which its MSME portal describes as covering 25 trades with loans up to ₹10 lakh. The applications differ, so check which scheme a website is describing.
What do you get from PM Vishwakarma, and when does each benefit arrive?
The ₹15,000 is a voucher for tools, not cash, and the government release says it is issued at the start of basic training.
| Benefit | Amount or scope | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Certificate and ID card | Recognition as a Vishwakarma | After Screening Committee approval |
| Basic training | 5-7 days, ₹500 per day | Required before the first loan |
| Advanced training | 15 days or more, ₹500 per day | Optional route to the second loan |
| Toolkit e-voucher | Up to ₹15,000 | Start of basic training |
| Digital transaction incentive | ₹1 per transaction, up to 100 a month | On digital payments sent or received |
| Marketing support | Quality certification, branding, GeM and other online listings | Open to registered beneficiaries |
How do the ₹1 lakh and ₹2 lakh PM Vishwakarma loans work?
You pay 5% a year, and the government pays the lender up to 8% more as interest subvention. Indian Bank's guideline page says the loan needs no collateral and is covered by CGTMSE (the credit guarantee trust for micro and small enterprises) on a portfolio basis.
| Tranche | Amount | Repayment | Condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| First | Up to ₹1 lakh | 18 months | Basic training completed |
| Second | Up to ₹2 lakh | 30 months | First tranche repaid on time, plus digital transactions or advanced training |
The same page lists no processing or prepayment charge, no repayment holiday, and no second tranche within six months of the first disbursement. With no holiday, instalments start at once, so size the loan to monthly sales rather than to the ceiling.
How do you check PM Vishwakarma status, login and name?
Track your own record instead of looking for a list. SIDBI's guide points to the SMS trail and the dashboard you reach by logging in to the official portal. For a stuck application, call the scheme helpline on 1800 267 7777 or write to pm-vishwakarma@dcmsme.gov.in, both listed in the government's guideline summary. Keep your Aadhaar-linked mobile active, since OTPs and approval messages go there.
Is there a last date for PM Vishwakarma registration in 2026?
None of the official documents I read states one. The scheme runs from 2023-24 to 2027-28 with an outlay of ₹13,000 crore, and the government says the 30 lakh registration target has been achieved. They do not say whether new enrolments continue, so ask your CSC or district industries centre. States can also start late: a PIB release of 23 July 2026 says implementation commenced in West Bengal after a May 2026 notification. See other government schemes for small businesses meanwhile.
Why does only about one in five registered artisans have a PM Vishwakarma loan?
The government's figures as of 15 September 2026 show the drop at each stage.
| Stage | Artisans (lakh) | Share of 30 lakh registered |
|---|---|---|
| Registered | 30.00 | 100% |
| Basic training completed | 24.37 | 81% |
| Toolkits received | 18.16 | 61% |
| Loans sanctioned | 6.19 | 21% |
The 6.19 lakh loans total about ₹5,316 crore, an average near ₹86,000, so most are probably first tranches or smaller. A Policy Circle analysis from April 2025 listed eligibility doubts, a loan purpose that does not match the trade, thin paperwork and old defaults among the reasons for rejection. In December 2025 the government told Lok Sabha that its steering committee had approved smaller loans of ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh, and that banks must re-contact rejected applicants, who can also reapply through the portal or a CSC.
Clear overdue instalments before applying, and tell the bank exactly which tools or raw material the loan will buy.
What should you do next?
- Ask your CSC or district industries centre whether enrolment is open in your district.
- Carry your Aadhaar, the linked mobile, your bank passbook and, if you have one, a ration card.
- Before the voucher arrives, list the tools you will buy and their prices.
- Take the first loan only for what that list and your stock need, and repay it on schedule to qualify for the second.
- Read the MSME schemes page for other support, and craft business ideas to widen your product range.
Frequently asked questions
Can two members of one family get PM Vishwakarma benefits?
No. Benefits are limited to one family member, and here the family means husband, wife and unmarried children. Anyone in government service, and their family members, is also excluded. Decide at home which member practises the trade, and enrol that person.
Is the ₹15,000 toolkit amount paid into my bank account?
No. It is an e-voucher for buying tools, issued at the start of basic training according to the government release. SIDBI's guide says the toolkit is delivered by India Post. If nothing arrives after training, raise it with the scheme helpline.
Can I take the ₹2 lakh loan straight away?
No. The second tranche needs the first repaid as a standard account, plus digital transactions or advanced training. Indian Bank's guidelines also bar it within six months of the first disbursement, so plan your cash needs around the first loan alone.
I repaid a Mudra loan. Can I still apply?
Yes. Fully repaid Mudra and PM SVANidhi borrowers remain eligible. Other government self-employment or business loans must be five years old, counted from the sanction date, and an account marked NPA or written off will not be considered for the loan.
Planning a new manufacturing unit?
NIIR prepares detailed project reports and feasibility studies for new projects. Share your requirement and the team will get in touch.
