Waste management: Project Opportunities in Andhra Pradesh

PROFILE:

Waste utilization, recycling and reuse plays a major role in limiting resource consumption and the environmental impact of waste. Recycling is an integral part of any waste management system as it represents a key utilization alternative to reuse and energy recovery (Waste-to-Energy). Which option is ultimately chosen depends on the quality, purity and the market situation. Hazardous waste management is a new concept for most of the Asian countries including India. The lack of technical and financial resources and the regulatory control for the management of hazardous wastes in the past had led to the unscientific disposal of hazardous wastes in India, which posed serious risks to human, animal and plant life.

RESOURCES:

In A.P., the collection and transportation constitutes 80 to 95% of total budget of solid waste management, hence it forms key component in determining the economics of whole waste management. Besides other factors like collection and transportation time, routing, the design and carrying capacity of vehicles, types of bins will have bearing effect on the efficient waste management system. It is preferable to use vehicles having mechanical loading system and with closed system of having no dust/smell nuisance during the transportation.

GOVERNMENT POLICIES:

National policy on waste management is set out in the October 1998 policy statement on waste management - Changing our Ways. It outlines the Government's policy objectives in relation to waste management, and suggests some key issues and considerations that must be addressed to achieve these objectives. The policy is firmly grounded in an internationally recognised hierarchy of options, namely prevention, minimisation, reuse/recycling, and the environmentally sustainable disposal of waste which cannot be prevented or recovered.

Water Soluble Fertilizer Blends For Drip Irrigation Systems

A water soluble fertilizer is a compound that dissolves easily in water and provides nutrients for plants. This type of fertilizer may then be absorbed quickly and completely by the plant root system. It is typically used entirely by the plant and washes out of the soil without leaving behind an excess of unused nutrients or toxins. With water soluble fertilizers it is easy to control the precise amount of nutrients available to plants. India water soluble fertilizers market stood at around $ 185 million in 2016 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 6% to surpass $ 356 million by 2027, on account of increasing popularity of complex water-soluble fertilizers and micronutrients in horticulture and ornamental crops.India is the second biggest consumer of fertilizer in the world next only to China. As a whole any entrepreneur can venture in this project without risk and earn profit.
