Print Industry encompasses almost every field in a country's economy. The industry generates an assortment of objects like Newspapers, Magazines, Books, Business Order Forms, Post Cards to Memo Pads, etc. that comes in use in our day to day life.The Printing Industry also comprises all sectors primarily engaged in printing on apparel and textile products, paper, metal, plastics, glass, and other materials, except fabric (grey goods). The printing processes employed include, but are not limited to, lithographic, gravure, screen, flexographic, digital, and letterpress. The demand for innovative printing practices has been on a high in recent times. The country’s printing market, currently valued at US$12.1 billion, is projected to reach US$20.9 billion and expected to rise to the 8th position by 2011. Currently India is the12th largest print market in the world.The Indian print industry will be worth around $27 billion by 2012. The Indian Printing Industry is well established and presently growing at 12% per annum. All products and services that cater to banking, telecom, education, pharmaceuticals and consumer goods segments in the Indian market have grown. Today, India is increasingly viewed as a print outsource destination which means that the exports in the publishing business have also grown.Today, India’s printing market is about $ 12.1 billion and is forecast to grow to US $ 20.9 billion by 2011.  There are more than 8000 daily newspapers published in India, besides a large number of weekly and fortnightly periodicals published in all Indian languages.

The Indian Printing Industry today comprises more than 300,000 big, small and medium printers with a total turnover of more than US $ 15 billion.  Almost 75% printing presses are family owned and hence closely held.

There is an enormous growth being witnessed in the digital printing industry apart from other printing technology.The emergence of the retail revolution and growing education across the country is acting as a fuel to the growth of the Printing Industry. Due to liberalization and globalization, the printing industry is progressing at a very fast speed by adopting modern printing technology. India is therefore attracting entrepreneurs from all over the world to set up their units in this country. Progress made in automation has made the printing industry more interactive by changing every aspect in our day to day life.
