Biochemical Projects
Biochemicals are chemicals that are usually found in organisms or living things. Some classes included are carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, amino acids, enzymes and proteins. Biochemical is an important field of Biotechnology which translates lab research to products for the benefit of mankind. The application of biochemical techniques and use of enzymes as tools and reagents have led to fast development of cell and molecular biology, biotechnology, bioinformatics, nano-biotechnology, protein engineering, genomics, proteomics and metabolomics. In the field of medicine and agriculture, bio technology has been used to produce food, test for diseases and to remove waste. Biotechnology is divided into three sub field-red, white and green biotechnology. It can be used in a wide range of economic activity ranging from environment, animal husbandry, medicinal and aromatic plants, bio fuels, aquaculture and products like silk and leather.Biotechnology, with its knowledge-intensive nature and tremendous economic potential, has emerged as one of the rapidly-growing sectors of the Indian knowledge economy today.
The Industrial enzyme market is growing steadily as most of the enzymes are produced by microorganisms in submerged cultures going by the biotechnology technique. Also integrated Biogas Systems have a significant role to play in the development of agro ecological farming systems as these systems can provide a valuable and diverse product slate from existing biowaste resources available in the form of manure to most traditional rural households. Growing consumption of enzymes in the existing application areas, use of enzymes in the new industrial processes, strict enforcement of environment laws and cost savings were some of key drivers for the growth of this sector in India.
The coming years will seemore nano-technology applications in drug discovery. This will mean a different focus from predominantly biochemical markets to cell function. There are positive signs, which indicate that the industry would witness a sharper growth and better visibility in the coming years
