What is a nitrile gloves project report?
A nitrile gloves project report is a detailed project report (DPR) for a unit that makes disposable gloves by dipping ceramic hand formers in compounded nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) latex. It sets out the process, dipping line, raw materials, market, project cost, means of finance, five-year projections, DSCR and break-even that a bank needs before funding the plant.
Entrepreneurs and existing rubber goods makers use it to size the line and apply for a term loan; lenders use it to judge whether glove sales can repay the loan.
Also known as: nitrile examination gloves project report, disposable nitrile gloves DPR, nitrile gloves business plan, nitrile gloves plant project report.
What a bank checks in a nitrile gloves project report
A credit officer reads a project report on nitrile gloves for a few numbers that show whether glove sales can carry the loan. These are the values in our sample report and the reason each one matters.
Compounded latex is the largest running cost. A report showing a much lower share is usually pricing NBR latex below what suppliers charge today.
Latex prices follow butadiene and acrylonitrile, the two monomers in NBR. A sound report tests a 10% rise in latex price against profit and DSCR.
Distributors and hospitals pay late. In the sample, trade receivables are the largest part of working capital, so debtor days drive the cash credit limit.
DSCR (debt service coverage ratio) is the cash available for repayment divided by the instalments due. Lenders look at the weakest year, not just the average of 1.99.
Values are the assumptions in our illustrative sample. Your report uses figures for your line, suppliers and buyers.
Nitrile gloves manufacturing plant cost in India and profitability
The sample report models one compact dipping line making 2,40,000 gloves per day, or 7,20,00,000 gloves a year over 300 working days. It starts at 60% capacity, reaches 80% in Year 5 and sells gloves at ₹2.11 each ex-factory, before GST.

Nitrile gloves manufacturing process
Gloves are made on a continuous chain of ceramic hand formers that loops through tanks and ovens. One lap of the chain takes a clean former to a finished glove ready for stripping.
- Latex compounding
NBR latex is mixed with zinc oxide, sulphur, accelerators and pigment, then left to mature, usually for a day or more, so the film cures evenly.
- Former cleaning
Formers pass through acid and alkali baths, brushes and rinse water; a dirty former is a common cause of pinholes.
- Coagulant dip
Warm formers dip into calcium nitrate solution, which makes the latex gel quickly and evenly on the surface.
- Latex dip
Formers pass through the compounded latex tank; glove thickness and weight are set by latex solids and dwell time.
- Leaching and beading
The wet film is washed in hot water to remove leftover chemicals, and brushes roll the cuff into a bead.
- Curing
Hot air ovens vulcanise the film, which gives the glove its strength and stretch.
- Surface treatment and stripping
Gloves are chlorinated or polymer coated so they slip on without powder, then stripped off the formers.
- Testing and packing
Batch samples go through a water leak test for pinholes and tensile tests, and gloves are counted into boxes of 100.
Raw materials for nitrile gloves
NBR latex comes in drums or tankers from Indian producers and importers, and its solids content and stability decide how well it dips. The sample holds 45 days of raw material stock and buys on 30 days' credit.
| Raw material | Share of cost | Year 3 (₹ lakh) |
|---|---|---|
| Nitrile butadiene (NBR) latex | 72% | 343.46 |
| Compounding chemicals (zinc oxide, sulphur, accelerators, pigment) | 12% | 57.25 |

| Former cleaning acids and alkalis | 5% | 23.85 |
| Chlorine or polymer coating chemicals | 5% | 23.85 |
| Total | 100% | 477.03 |
Nitrile glove making machine: the dipping line and support equipment
The dipping line with its chain conveyor is the largest item at ₹91.47 lakh, about 40% of plant and machinery. Ovens and the heater or boiler come next, because most stages need heat.
| Machine | What it does | Sample cost (₹ lakh) |
|---|---|---|
| Single-former glove dipping line with chain conveyor | Carries formers through every tank and oven | 91.47 |
| Hot air drying and curing ovens | Dry and vulcanise the glove film | 32.02 |
| Thermal oil heater or steam boiler | Heats tanks and ovens | 22.87 |
| Ceramic hand formers | Give the glove its shape and size; break and wear in use | 18.30 |
| Latex compounding and maturation tanks | Mix and age the latex compound | 18.29 |
| Leaching, chlorination and rinse tanks | Wash and surface-treat the film | 13.72 |
| Glove stripping and tumble dryers | Remove gloves from formers and dry them | 11.43 |
| Glove counting and boxing machines | Count gloves into boxes of 100 | 11.43 |
| Quality control lab with water leak and tensile testers | Check pinholes and strength | 9.15 |
| Total plant and machinery | 228.68 | |
Costs are the sample report's estimates. Compare quotations on line speed in gloves per hour, number of formers and fuel use before you finalise.
Who buys nitrile gloves in India?
Many hospitals, labs and food plants now choose nitrile over latex because it resists punctures, oils and many chemicals and does not cause latex allergy. Demand has no real off season: clinics use gloves every day and factories use them on every shift.
- Hospitals and nursing homes, often through tenders
- Medical distributors and surgical stockists
- Diagnostic labs and dental clinics
- Food processing and pharma units
- Online and retail pharmacy chains
- Chemical handling and industrial cleaning users
Where a new unit wins: imported gloves compete hard on price, so an Indian unit wins on steady supply, consistent glove weight and test reports buyers can check.
Licences and approvals for a nitrile gloves unit
| Medical device licence | Non-latex medical examination gloves are a Class A device in the CDSCO list. Manufacture needs a licence from the State Licensing Authority under the Medical Devices Rules, 2017 (application in Form MD-3, licence in Form MD-5) |
|---|---|
| Product standard | IS 15354 (Part 1):2023, identical to ISO 11193-1:2020, for single-use medical examination gloves made from rubber latex or rubber solution |
| GST and HSN | Surgical and medical examination rubber gloves fall under heading 4015 at 5% GST, as notified by CBIC on 17 September 2025 (earlier 12%) |
| Pollution board consent | Consent to establish and operate from the State Pollution Control Board. "Surgical and medical products including prophylactics and latex" is an orange category industry under CPCB criteria; confirm with your state board |
| Business registration | Udyam (MSME) registration and GST registration |
| Factory and boiler | Factory licence where worker thresholds apply, and boiler registration with the state inspectorate if you install a steam boiler |
Surgical gloves are a different product: CDSCO lists them as Class B, so they need their own licence.
Loans and schemes for a nitrile gloves plant
MSME term loan with CGTMSE
Guarantee cover up to ₹10 croreCollateral-free guarantee for eligible micro and small enterprises. A single-line unit like the sample, at ₹553 lakh, sits within this ceiling.
Cash credit for working capital
Set by stock and debtor daysThe sample needs a ₹161 lakh limit, mainly to carry 60 days of credit to distributors and hospitals.
PMEGP
Manufacturing projects up to ₹50 lakhSubsidy of 15–35% of project cost. A dipping line costs far more, so PMEGP suits only small allied work such as glove packing, not a glove plant.
Scheme limits change. Confirm current terms with the bank or the scheme portal before applying.
Mistakes that weaken a nitrile gloves project report
- Pricing gloves at pharmacy box rates
Distributors buy at ex-factory rates well below the shelf price, so revenue and DSCR come out too high.
- Assuming every glove is saleable
Pinholes, tears and weight variation send part of the output to seconds or scrap; saleable output must allow for it.
- No budget for former replacement
Ceramic formers chip and break, and output falls when gaps on the chain are left unfilled. Plan for a spare set.
- Understating fuel for heat
Coagulant, leaching and curing all need heat. Fuel cost must match the tank and oven sizes on the line drawing.
- Starting sales in month one
The medical device licence and pollution consent take time. Projections that ignore this overstate first-year cash flow.

Nitrile Gloves project report: frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to start a nitrile gloves manufacturing plant in India?
Cost depends mostly on the dipping line: its speed, the number of formers and whether it is imported or built in India. Our sample report models a 2,40,000 gloves per day unit at ₹553 lakh, with ₹229 lakh of plant and machinery and ₹174.28 lakh of building. Your project report works out the figure for your own line, land and location.
What raw materials are used to make nitrile gloves?
Nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) latex is the main raw material, about 72% of raw material cost in our sample report. The rest is compounding chemicals such as zinc oxide, sulphur and accelerators, calcium nitrate coagulant, former cleaning acids and alkalis, and chlorine or polymer coating chemicals. Boxes of 100 and cartons are counted separately as packing.
Is nitrile gloves manufacturing profitable?
In our illustrative sample, the unit earns a 26% return on investment in Year 3, breaks even at 39% of capacity and pays back in about 3.3 years. Real profit depends on NBR latex prices, reject rates, fuel cost and how quickly buyers pay. Hospital tenders can pay slowly, so working capital needs careful planning.
Which licence is needed to manufacture nitrile gloves in India?
Nitrile examination gloves are a Class A medical device in the CDSCO list, so you need a manufacturing licence from the State Licensing Authority under the Medical Devices Rules, 2017. You also need Udyam and GST registration, pollution board consent and, where it applies, a factory licence. Quality is judged against IS 15354 (Part 1):2023.
What is the difference between nitrile and latex gloves?
Latex gloves are made from natural rubber latex, while nitrile gloves use a synthetic rubber, NBR. Nitrile resists oils, many chemicals and punctures better and does not cause latex allergy, which is why many hospitals, labs and food plants choose it. Both are made on similar dipping lines, but the compound and curing settings differ.
How many workers does a nitrile gloves unit need?
Our sample unit employs 42 people: 6 in management, supervision and administration, 15 skilled workers and operators, and 21 semi-skilled and unskilled workers. Dipping lines run round the clock, so operators work in shifts. Stripping, checking and packing take the most hands when they are done manually rather than by machine.
Is the nitrile gloves project report PDF free, and can I use it for a bank loan?
Yes, the sample PDF is free to open and download. It is illustrative: it shows the format and depth of an NPCS report, but its figures are representative, not from a real project. Do not submit it to a bank. For a loan, NPCS prepares a report for your own line, location and lender.
