Best Business Opportunities in Nagaland - Identification and Selection of right Project, Thrust areas for Investment, Industry Startup and Entrepreneurship Projects

Nagaland is a state in North East India. It borders the state of Assam to the west, Arunachal Pradesh and part of Assam to the north, Burma to the east and Manipur to the south. The state capital is Kohima, and the largest city is Dimapur. It has an area of 16,579 square kilometers (6,401 sq mi) with a population of 1,980,602 per the 2011 Census of India, making it one of the smallest states of India.

ECONOMY

Literacy rate in Nagaland has seen upward trend and is 79.55 percent as per 2011 population census. Of that, male literacy stands at 82.75 percent while female literacy is at 70.01 percent. Total literates in Nagaland stands at 1,342,434 of which males were 723,957 and females were 618,477.

Nagaland has basically an agricultural economy. A great ambition of the villager is to have a bumper harvest. The economy of the state is predominantly based on agriculture. The major land use pattern is slashed and burn cultivation locally known as jhum. About 1, 01,400 hectare of land is under jhum cultivation. Rice is the dominant crop and also the staple diet of the people. Of the gross cropped area under food grains, rice accounts for about 84.4%. Oil seeds are also an important crop. It includes Rapeseed, mustard etc. Coffee cardamom and tea are grown as plantation crops in Nagaland.

INDUSTRY

The age old industry of the state is cottage industry which plays a vital role in the village's economy. Cottage industries which deserve emphasis are -

1.       Weaving and dyeing

2.       Work in cane

3.       Work in wood, black smithy, pottery and excavation of salt, pulp and paper mill.

Spinning and weaving were the only significant industry in the Naga Hills until independence. Mill made yarn, by virtue of its easy availability and cheapness is steadily substituting the thread, spun locally. In course of time, indigenous spinning would probably become extinct unless the Nagas switched over to modern techniques. Weaving, however, continues to be popular. The state is trying to encourage small-scale and cottage industries. This will reduce the pressure on land, ensure a larger employment potential and lead to a balanced regional development. Weaving training-cum-production centres have been set up at Mokokchung and Dimapur, a Cottage industry training-cum-production centre has come up at Mon, and a cottage industries training centre at Aghunato. Three medium-level industries have been established by the government for the development of Industrial Sector. The Nagaland sugar mill at Dimapur has an installed capacity of 1,000 tonnes of cane per day.

Processing and Packaging of Snack Foods

A snack is a small portion of food eaten between meals. This may be a snack food, such as potato chips or baby carrots, but can also simply be a small amount of any food. A snack is a small service of food, and generally eaten between meals. Snacks come in a variety of forms including packaged snack foods and other processed foods, as well as items made from fresh ingredients at home. Traditionally, snacks are prepared from ingredients commonly available in the home without a great deal of preparation. Most snack foods are intended for immediate consumption and have a shelf-life of only 1-2 days. Such food products may be sold loose without packaging, or in small polythene or paper packages which contain a portion for sale. If required, the shelf-life may be extended considerably through the use of adequate packaging. Snack food has emerged as an alternative to full-fledged meals with the paradigm shift in consumer behavior patterns. The higher disposable incomes as a result of the growing urbanization and increasing preference for convenience food have triggered the growth of the snack food industry. The rising health consciousness among consumers and government regulations regarding procurement of raw materials like vegetables, meat, etc. are restraining the growth of snack food consumption to some extent. Bicycle Rim

A bicycle wheel is a wheel, most commonly a wire wheel, designed for a bicycle. A pair is often called a wheel set, especially in the context of ready built "off the shelf" performance-oriented wheels. Bicycle wheels are typically designed to fit into the frame and fork via dropouts, and hold bicycle tires. The first bicycle wheels followed the traditions of carriage building: a wooden hub, a fixed steel axle (the bearings were located in the fork ends), wooden spokes and a shrink fitted iron tire. A typical modern wheel has a metal hub, wire tension spokes and a metal or carbon fiber rim which holds a pneumatic rubber tire. The rim is the "outer edge of a wheel, holding the tire". It makes up the outer circular design of the wheel on which the inside edge of the tire is mounted on vehicles such as automobiles. For example, on a bicycle wheel the rim is a large hoop attached to the outer ends of the spokes of the wheel that holds the tire and tube. In cross-section, the rim is deep in the center and shallow at the outer edges, thus forming a "U" shape that supports for the bead of the tire casing. The regional demand dynamics of bicycle rims is directly correlated with the overall production and fleet of the bicycles. China is projected to dominate in terms of sales and is estimated to remain dominant in terms of demand for bicycle rims owing to increasing sales of bicycles. North America is expected to grow at significant CAGR during the forecast period in the bicycle rim market owing to increasing government regulations to support green transportation in the region.

Disposable Products (Knife, Fork & Cutlery Items (Spoon)

Disposable Products A disposable (also called disposable product) is a product designed for a single use after which it is recycled or is disposed as solid waste. The term often implies cheapness and short-term convenience rather than medium to long-term durability. The term is also sometimes used for products that may last several months (e.g. disposable air filters) to distinguish from similar products that last indefinitely (e.g. washable air filters). The word "disposables" is not to be confused with the word "consumables" which is widely used in the mechanical world. Disposable products are used only once or twice and are often not recycled. When it comes plastic, we aware that it is usually non-biodegradable in nature. Plastic and other disposable products cause a significant damage to our environment. Plastic bags choke the wildlife and refuse to break down in oceans or landfills. They aren’t easy to recycle and make environment pretty messed up. The disposable products market is witnessing an annual growth of nearly 6-7% due to increased consumer spending on personal care products globally. In addition, the demand for improvised comfort, performance and efficient absorbent products is expected to drive demand for disposable products in the near future. Concerns for safety, convenience and hygiene are identified as key factors affecting growth of disposable products market. Disposable Cutlery Items The major items of cutlery in Western culture are the knife, fork and spoon. In recent times, hybrid versions of cutlery have been made combining the functionality of different eating implements, including the spork (spoon / fork), spife (spoon / knife), and knork (knife / fork) or the sporf which combines all three.

Stain Removers

Stain removal is the process of removing a mark or spot left by one substance on a specific surface like a fabric. A solvent or detergent is generally used to conduct stain removal and many of these are available over the counter. If a stain has "set", it has become chemically bonded to the material that it has stained and cannot be removed without damaging the material itself. It is therefore important to avoid setting stains that one wants to remove. This can be done by avoiding heat (by not pressing or ironing the stain), sponging stained materials as quickly as possible, using the correct solvent (some solvents will act as catalysts on certain substances and cause the stain to set more quickly), and avoiding rubbing the stain. Stain removers contain solvents. A solvent is any fluid that dissolves another chemical. For example, water is a good solvent for dissolving salt and sugar. However, it's not a good solvent for dissolving oil or butter. Stain removers often contain alcohol which acts as a solvent for both water-based and oil-based stains. The major trends in this market include eco-friendly stain remover products and increasing demand from developing countries. The vendors of laundry care products are coming up with the green laundry concept with the usage of more biodegradable components in the product offerings. Some of the leading eco-friendly stain remover products are Attitude Eco-Friendly Laundry Stain Remover, Citra Spot Natural Stain and Odor Remover, Everyday Stain & Odor Eliminator, and 365 Pre-Wash Stain Remover. The stain remover product market can be segmented by product into powder, liquid, bar, and others which includes sprays, sticks, tablets, wipes, foams, packets, and gels. By application, the market can be classified into commercial and residential end-user segments. Commercial applications include laundry services, textile industry, and hospitality industry whereas residential applications include household cleaning. The global stain remover products market offers a wide range of products having different compositions, which include different chemical components, fragrances, formats, packages, and prices. For instance, stain remover products are available in different forms, including powder, liquid, bars, sticks, and sprays.

Dosing Pump

A dosing pump is a small, positive displacement pump. It is designed to pump a very precise flow rate of a chemical or substance into either a water, steam or gas flow. A dosing pump will deliver this precise flow rate of chemical or other product by a number of different methods but it generally involves drawing a measured amount into a chamber and then injecting this volume of chemical into the pipe or tank being dosed. A dosing pump is generally quite small and is powered by either a small electric motor or air actuator. A dosing pump is a positive displacement pump designed to transport very precise flow rates of a chemical or other substance into a fluid stream. The mechanism of this industrial pump involves drawing a measured quantity of fluid into the chamber and then injecting this volume rate into the container being dosed. Dosing pumps are low-volume pumps with controllable discharge rates that are used to inject additives or difficult-to-mix fluids into mixing, pumping, or batch/tank systems. Dosing pumps are usually made from plastic, thermoplastic, or stainless steel and feature mounting holes or accessories. Dosing pumps often have a controller which enables the fluid flow to be monitored and adjusted easily. The global market is expected to grow from an estimated market size of USD 771.8 million in 2018 to USD 949.3 million by 2023, at a CAGR of 4.23%. The overall market is set to witness significant growth because of the growing demand for accurate and precise dosing from chemical, oil & gas, and manufacturing industries, along with increasing investments in the water & wastewater treatment sector. The market for up to 25 bar segment is expected to grow at a higher CAGR during the forecast period. Hydraulic dosing pumps with discharge pressure up to 25 bar are used for dosing purposes in sectors including oil & gas, chemical & petrochemical, power generation, water treatment, and manufacturing. Thus, the rise in demand for hydraulic dosing pumps led by significant investments in these industries is expected to drive the demand for hydraulic dosing pumps during the forecast period.

Saccharin (Soluble & Insoluble)

Sodium saccharin (benzoic sulfimide) is an artificial sweetener with effectively no food energy. It is about 300–400 times as sweet as sucrose but has a bitter or metallic aftertaste, especially at high concentrations. Saccharin is used to sweeten products such as drinks, candies, cookies, and medicines. Saccharin derives its name from the word "saccharine", meaning "sugary". The word saccharine is used figuratively, often in a derogative sense, to describe something "unpleasantly over-polite" or "overly sweet". Both words are derived from the Greek word ???????? (sakcharon) meaning "gravel". Related, saccharose is an obsolete name for sucrose (table sugar). Saccharin is an artificial or non-nutritive sweetener. It is made in a laboratory through the oxidation of the chemicals o-toluene sulfonamide or phthalic anhydride. It looks like white, crystalline powder. Saccharin is commonly used as a sugar substitute because it doesn't contain calories or carbs. Humans can't break down saccharin, so it leaves the body unchanged. The global saccharin market reached a value of US$ 260 Million in 2016. Saccharin, also known as Ortho-sulfobenzoic Acid Imide, is an artificial sweetener found in the form of a white crystalline powder that is about 300 times sweeter than sugar. It is made through the oxidation of o-toluene sulfonamide or phthalic anhydride, and its name has been derived from the word ‘saccharine’ which is used to describe something ‘overly sweet’. Saccharin is not soluble in water but usually blends with other sweeteners to compensate for their weaknesses and faults. Saccharin is an artificial sweetener which is 300 to 500 times sweeter than sugar with zero calories. It is unrivalled among all other high sweetener intensity products owing to its stability, cost effectiveness, compatibility and absence of side effects. The product is mainly used by diabetic patients as it doesn’t spike the sugar level of the body and is easily removed from the body without being absorbed through renal defecation, adding no nutritional value to the body.

Dimethyl Sulphate

Dimethyl sulfate is a chemical compound with formula (CH3O)2SO2. As the diester of methanol and sulfuric acid, its formula is often written as (CH3)2SO4 or even Me2SO4, where CH3 or Me is methyl. Me2SO4 is mainly used as a methylating agent in organic synthesis. Dimethyl Sulfate is an odorless, corrosive, oily liquid with an onion-like odor that emits toxic fumes upon heating. Dimethyl sulfate is used in industry as a methylating agent in the manufacture of many organic chemicals. Inhalation exposure to its vapors is highly irritating to the eyes and lungs and may cause damage to the liver, kidney, heart and central nervous system, while dermal contact causes severe blistering. It is a possible mutagen and is reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen based on evidence of carcinogenicity in experimental animals. Dimethyl sulfate hydrolyzes slowly in cold water but rapidly in warm water and acidic solutions. The hydrolysis occurs stepwise, initially forming methyl sulfuric acid, then sulfuric acid and methanol. It can be calculated that DMS hydrolyzes to methyl sulfuric acid with 99.9% completion as follows: Dimethyl sulfate is used as chemical intermediate, hence the global dimethyl sulfate market is anticipated to experience strong growth over the foreseeable future, owing to its numerous applications in different chemicals. Furthermore, the fabric softeners market is expected to experience strong growth during the forecast period, which would boost the demand for dimethyl sulfate, as the latter is used to manufacture fabric softeners.

How do I Start a Warehouse Business?

How do I Start a Warehouse Business? Warehouse Business - Startup Ideas Warehousing is the act of storing goods that will be sold or distributed later. While a small, home-based business might be warehousing products in a spare room, basement, or garage, larger businesses typically own or rent space in a building that is specifically designed for storage. A warehouse is a building for storing goods. Warehouses are used by manufacturers, importers, exporters, wholesalers, transport businesses, customs, etc. They are usually large plain buildings in industrial parks on the outskirts of cities, towns or villages. The function of storage can be carried out successful with the help of warehouses used for storing the goods. Warehousing can also be defined as assumption of responsibility for the storage of goods. By storing the goods throughout the year and releasing them as and when they are needed, warehousing creates time utility. Market Outlook The Warehousing and Storage industry provides its clients with storage facilities for a wide variety of goods. Although a large proportion of this is general merchandise, the industry also offers specialized storage of liquids and gases, agricultural commodities and refrigerated goods. Industry revenue is expected to grow at a strong compound annual rate of 8.3% over the five years through 2018-19 to reach £19.8 billion. On-demand warehousing is the ability to switch on warehousing services as and when required. Storage capacity is the principal service, but all other services related to the movement of inventory to and from the warehouse must also be included in the model. It is warehousing services that can be scaled up to meet peak demand, but then scaled back to previous levels when no longer needed. Warehousing involves storage of goods and merchandise in order to protect the quality and quantity of the stored products awaiting future use. It is an integral part of the logistics value chain, forming the node, which allows for collection, sorting and dissemination of goods within the supply chain. Global Warehousing Industry Outlook • The global warehousing market was valued at approximately $1.6 trillion in 2016 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of around 7-8 percent to around $1.8 trillion by the end of 2018 • Regions, such as Europe and North America and some parts of APAC, including Australia and Singapore, have high market maturity due to tight supply conditions and higher technology adoption • Parts of APAC, such as India and China, are expected to be the future growth driving markets for the warehousing industry owing to the forecasted increase in manufacturing facilities, high number of top container ports and due to the expected robust growth in the e-commerce sector, which is expected to grow from $1.1 trillion in 2016 to $1.8 trillion in 2018 The Indian warehouse market was worth INR 1,463 Billion in 2017. The market is further projected to reach INR 3,179 Billion by 2023, at a CAGR of 13.6% during 2018-2023. Warehousing involves storage of goods and merchandise in order to protect the quality and quantity of the stored products awaiting future use. It is an integral part of the logistics value chain, forming the node, which allows for collection, sorting and dissemination of goods within the supply. Warehousing which was once sidelined in the larger scheme of things is now rapidly gaining prominence across the Indian realty sector. There are many factors, at the micro and macro-economic level that are coming to play, making warehousing an attractive proposition for investors looking to leverage the significant tailwinds witnessed around it. Warehousing in India has travelled far, from being glorified godowns to the modern, technically fitted floors with computerized specifications. The formerly concrete or low-grade steel godowns are now increasingly being replaced by pre-engineered, factory produced steel structures which are often assembled at a location. These modern warehouses are insulated, ventilated and climate-proof with round the clock surveillance and standard quality and safety procedures. The warehousing industry in India is still at the beginning stages and has huge tracks to cover in terms of equalling the global standard. In the scenario of halting technology penetration and advancements, the country has an access to huge manpower and abundant labour but efficient training mechanisms and skill development are not at par with the rate of industry evolution needs. Warehouses are commercial buildings used by manufacturers, exporters, importers, transport businesses, wholesalers, and customs to store and load goods. They are usually large enclosed spaces or buildings near industrial areas in cities, towns and villages. Warehousing is a major part of supply chain and logistics activities. It includes the movement and storage of materials within the warehouse, involving standardized procedures of transaction, shipping, receiving, stow away and pick up.
