Sericulture (Tasar Silk): Project Opportunities in Jharkhand

PROFILE:

Sericulture is an agro-based industry. It involves rearing of silkworms for the production of raw silk, which is the yarn obtained out of cocoons spun by certain species of insects. The major activities of sericulture comprises of food-plant cultivation to feed the silkworms which spin silk cocoons and reeling the cocoons for unwinding the silk filament for value added benefits such as processing and weaving. Silk is a fine strand of fiber that is a solidified secretion produced by certain caterpillars to encase themselves in the form of cocoons. India is second largest producer of silk. Sericulture industry is looking out for the developments of young age silk worm rearing or chawki rearing. Care of silk worms start from the stage of procurement of silk worm eggs from the grainage itself. Silk worm eggs are distributed to the farmers for commercial rearing when active development of embryo is in progress. The important aspect of young silkworm rearing management are a suitable separate rearing house or room, well maintained mulberry garden with assured irrigation facilities. Sericulture has emerged as a virtual lifeline and a profitable employment avenue for villagers in Maoist-affected areas in India's eastern Jharkhand. Under the aegis of the Jharkhand state industrial department, farmers are beginning to rear silkworms.

RESOURCES:

Jharkhand, much like Chattisgarh and Uttaranchal, is endowed with adequate forest cover. These forests are home to two species of trees -Arjuna (Terminalia Arjuna) & Asan (Terminalia Tomentosa) which are breeding ground for the moth which produces the cocoon from which Tasar yarn is reeled. Jharkhand's forest department is also planning to encourage planting of Arjuna trees in place of the traditional Acacia or Eucalyptus trees. Tussar Food plants are available over an area of 9 lakh hectares. The Singhbhum and Santhalpargana regions are the main silk producing centres in the State. The State is promoting this activity through 28 pilot project centres situated in different areas. Each rearer can rear on an average 200 eggs or Disease Free Laying (DFLs) so the annual demand of commercial seed or egg is of 130 lakh. There are three types of seeds or eggs – Nucleus, Basic seed and Basic seed multiplied to commercial seed.

GOVERNMENT RESOURCES:

Tasar culture is a backbone for Tribal development, and the Government of India, through the Central Silk Board and different State Governments have initiated several developmental and welfare measures for the tribal welfare through it. Jharkhand's forest department is also planning to encourage planting of Arjuna trees in place of the traditional Acacia or Eucalyptus trees. Jharkhand Sericulture Development Institute (JSDI) and Jharkhand Silk Technical Development Institute (JSTDI) are being strengthened to give an impetus to this sector. During the year 2010-11, it is proposed to rear 2.35 lakh tasar nucleus DFLs, 16 lakh of tasar basic DFLs and 96 lakh of commercial DFLs through seed and commercial rearers in the State. It is proposed to be benefited 40,000 -50,000 Tasar farmers through Tasar seed production and its rearing during the year.

Steel Industry

PROFILE:

Steel Industry is a booming industry in the whole world. India’s economic growth is contingent upon the growth of the Indian steel industry. Consumption of steel is taken to be an indicator of economic development. While steel continues to have a stronghold in traditional sectors such as construction, housing and ground transportation, special steels are increasingly used in engineering industries such as power generation, petrochemicals and fertilisers. Indian Steel Industry is more than a century old. India has now emerged as the eighth largest producer of steel in the world with a production capacity of 35MT. Almost all varieties of steel is now produced in India. India has also emerged as a net exporter of steel which shows that Indian steel is being increasingly accepted in the global market. The growth of the steel industry in India is also dependant, to a large extent, on the level of consumption of steel in the domestic market. Steel consumption is significant in housing and infrastructure. In recent years the surge in housing industry of India has led to increase in the domestic demand for steel.

RESOURCES:

Jharkhand emerges as hub for steel companies. The state is endowed with deposits of Iron Ores of both, Hematite & Magnetite. The Hematite deposits are mainly located in the West Singhbhum District and have a resource base exceeding 3700 Million Tonnes. These have been explored only in pockets by large industry houses in their lease hold. There is a very good scope of enlarging this resource base by further exploration. The Magnetite Deposits are located in the East Singhbhum, Latehar & Palamu districts. They comprise lenticular ore bodies as well as Schist rocks with 80 to 36% magnetic. The exploration of these bodies is yet to be taken up. The existing steel mills are sourcing their iron ore (Hematite) from West Singhbhum. The Magnetite ore is being used in heavy media coal washeries & paints. Tata Steel's largest plant is located in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, with its recent acquisitions; the company has become a multinational with operations in various countries. If the interest shown by all the companies, big and small, in Jharkhand's iron ore deposits translates into reality, the state will produce more than half the total steel in India. First Iron & steel factory  is located at Jamshedpur and Largest Steel plant in Asia is Bokaro steel plant.

GOVERNMENT POLICIES:

Under the new industrial policy, iron and steel has been made one of the high priority industries. Price and distribution controls have been removed  as well as foreign direct investment up to 100% (under automatic route) has been permitted.  The Trade Policy has also been liberalized and import and export of iron and steel is freely allowed with no quantitative restrictions on import of iron and steel items. Tariffs on various items of iron and steel have drastically come down since 1991-92 levels and the government is committed to bring them down to the international levels.  With the abolishing of price regulation of iron and steel in 92, the steel prices are market determined. The policy devises a multi-pronged strategy to achieve these targets with following focus areas; removal of supply constraints especially availability  of critical inputs like iron ore; improve cost competitiveness by expanding and strengthening the infrastructure in roads, railways, ports and power; increase exports; meet the additional capital requirements by mobilizing financial resources; promote investments by removing  procedural delays. In addition the policy also addresses challenges arising out of environmental concerns, human resource requirements, R&D, volatile steel prices and the secondary sector.

Magnesium Powder from Dolomite Stone

Magnesium (Mg) is a silvery white metal that is similar in appearance to aluminium but weighs one-third less. Magnesium is strongly reactive with oxygen at high temperatures; above 645°C (1,190°F) in dry air, it burns with a bright white light and intense heat. For this reason, magnesium powders are used in pyrotechnics. At room temperature, a stable film of water-insoluble magnesium hydroxide forms on the metal’s surface, protecting it from corrosion in most atmospheres. The highly reactive metal is used in the manufacture of reagents, which are essential in modern metal processing. But Magnesium allows for so much more. As an example: The bonding of powder molecules by atomic diffusion process in the shaping production of components by pressure or sintering, will result in components superior to other metals with regard to their characteristics. In particular their weight is a clear benefit. magnesium powder is widely used in such scientific areas as military and aviation industries, The chemical performance of magnesium is very active, which is mostly used in metallurgical industry. Magnesium powder can serve as desulfurizer or cleaning agent for steel-making industry and casting of non-ferrous metals, and reducer for production of rare metal. In chemical industry, magnesium powder can be used as dehydrator for organic compound or to directly make organic compound of magnesium. Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulfonic Acid (LABSA) Business Plan for Production

Introduction (LABSA) Linear alkyl benzene sulfonic acidic is used to make anionic, non-anionic, and amphoteric surfactants, and its degradability in nature is crucial. It's a water-soluble emulsifying agent. Because of its low cost, high performance, and biocompatibility due to its linear chain, alkyl benzene sulfonic acid is one of the most commonly used anionic surfactants. Hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups coexist in this anionic surfactant. The sulfonation process produces these non-volatile compounds. These compounds are made up of phenyl and sulfonate groups in carbon chains ranging from 10 to 14 carbons long. Related Projects: - Production of Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid’s Specific Uses Linear alkyl benzene sulfonic acid is primarily used in the manufacture of household detergents such as laundry powders, liquids, and other cleaners, as well as in a variety of industrial applications such as coupling agents and emulsifiers for agricultural herbicides and emulsion polymerization. In the first phases of the sewage-treatment process, a significant portion of the LAS is eliminated from the aqueous phase of the wastewater due to adsorption on the sludge or sedimentation in the presence of calcium or magnesium. When reacting with calcium, the LAS homologs with the longest alkyl chain have a higher propensity to adsorb on solids and become less dissolved. Related Books: - The Complete Technology Book on Chemical Industries Production of Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid The sulphonation reaction of Alkyl Benzene with Sulphur trioxide produces LABSA (Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid) (SO). Other processes can call for the use of oleum or sulfuric acid. The final decision will be influenced by a number of factors, including raw material availability, plant location, plant size, and plant operation mode, to name a few. Nonetheless, when major factors such as cost, availability, versatility, and protection are taken into account, SO remains the reaction's preferred reagent. LABSA is one of the most popular active ingredients in soaps and detergents. It also makes up a higher percentage of the raw materials used in the manufacture of liquid soaps. Chemithon and Ballestra are two of the major producers. Both companies use the same steps to create LABSA. However, the technology differs slightly, particularly at the sulphonation level, where Chemithon uses a Falling Film Reactor or Jet Reactor and Ballestra uses a Stirred Tank Reactor/Cascade Reactor or Multitube Falling Film Reactor. Market Outlook The market for linear alkyl benzene sulfonic acid can be divided into three categories: type, purity, and application. The market can be divided into two types: alpha-olefin sulfonate (AOS) and alkyl sulphate (AS). The market can be divided into linear alkyl benzene sulfonic acid (90 percent) and linear alkyl benzene sulfonic acid (90 percent) based on purity (96 percent). Production of Lithium Ion (LiFePO4) Cell batteries for electric vehicles

In today's portable electronics, two types of batteries are used: lithium-ion and lithium iron phosphate. Although they have some similarities, the high energy density, long life cycles, and protection of both are significant differences. The majority of people are familiar with lithium-ion batteries since they own a smartphone, tablet, or computer. Lithium iron phosphate is a newer type of battery that is gaining popularity in the manufacturing industry due to its low cost materials and high temperature stability. When fresh, there is no need to prime it for a long time. All that is required is a single daily fee. Self-discharge is less than half that of nickel-based batteries, suggesting that they have a poor self-discharge. Low Maintenance: There is no need for a periodic discharge, and there is no memory. Specialty cells can provide a large amount of current to applications like power tools. Lithium Ion (LiFePO4) Cell manufacturing process Cathode, anode, electrolyte, and separator are the four primary components of Li-ion batteries. The continuous reactions of lithium in a lithium-ion battery produce electricity. Cathode A Li-ion battery's power and voltage are determined by its cathode. Since lithium is unstable in its element form, the cathode of a Li-ion battery is lithium oxide. The frame of the cathode is held together by a thin aluminium foil, which is coated with a paste made up of active material, conductive additive, and a binder. Related project: - Lithium Ion Battery Anode The anode is also coated with an active material that allows for the reversible absorption or emission of lithium ions released from the cathode while also allowing for the flow of electric current through the external circuit. Lithium ions are contained in the anode rather than the cathode when the battery is charged. Lithium ions migrate back to the cathode via the electrolyte as the conducting wire binds the cathode to the anode in the discharge state, and electrons are isolated from lithium ions and travel along the wire, producing electricity. Electrolyte The electrolyte in a Li-Ion Battery allows the transfer of lithium ions between the cathode and the anode, as well as the movement of electrons through the wire. To allow the movement of lithium ions, an electrolyte is usually made up of chemicals with high ionic conductivity. Separator The cathode and anode determine the battery's basic efficiency, while the electrolyte and separator determine the battery's safety. By holding the cathode and anode separate, the separator serves as a physical barrier. It also prevents electrons from flowing directly through the internal microscopic hole, allowing only lithium ions to pass through. Synthetic resins such as polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) are widely used in commercialized separators (PP). Market outlook The demand for lithium iron phosphate batteries in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and the Middle East and Africa. North America is divided into three parts: the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, and the rest of Europe make up Europe. China, India, Japan, and the Rest of Asia-Pacific make up Asia-Pacific. Because of its proven automotive sector and rising consumer electronics demand, Asia-Pacific dominated the global market. From 2020 to 2027, the global lithium iron phosphate battery market is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.2 percent. The battery strategy of the scheme aims to make producers more internationally competitive, increase exports, achieve economies of scale, and develop cutting-edge goods. This is part of an attempt to encourage the use of electric vehicles (EVs), which have been hindered in India by high battery costs and a lack of supporting infrastructure. Battery imports account for more than half of the cost of an electric vehicle in India. The government has suggested that local manufacturing facilities be built in order to minimize costs and promote competition. The government has made it clear that it wants to drive India toward clean energy and transportation, as evidenced by the ambitious target of 450 GW of renewable energy production by 2020. Apart from promoting EVs, there has been a notable drive for renewable energy to be available around the clock, which includes energy storage like ACC batteries. Market Research; - Market Research Report The proposed battery policy is output-based rather than input-based, which is one of the scheme's key features. The subsidy is based on the amount of production generated and the amount of value added by private businesses. Only private companies would be eligible for a government subsidy if they reach a 60 percent value addition within five years of the project's start date, which is when full-scale development is planned. Any new technology that emerges in the next ten years will be eligible for a subsidy as well. Next, the government has set aside 570 billion (US$7.7 billion) for the car industry over the next five years as part of the programme. In reality, ACC manufacturing industries have been allocated 180 billion (US$2.4 billion) in advance. The government would pay the producer a fixed subsidy (as determined by the private entity's bid) for a period of ten years, subject to discounting over time. Economies of scale and lower production prices will be factored into the discounting. Glass is an amorphous solid, which means it lacks a crystalline structure in its solid state and instead behaves like a very viscous liquid. Because the thin fibers can easily bend, glass fiber lends itself to woven fabric. Glass fiber fabric has a high tensile strength, dimensional stability, heat and fire resistance, and resistance to a wide range of chemical compounds. Fiberglass fabric can also be used to dissipate heat and has electrical properties that make it suitable for use in electronic components. Related Projects:- TEXTILE BLEACHING, DYEING, SPINNING, WEAVING, PRINTING, FINISHING AND TEXTILE AUXILIARIES PROJECTS Manufacturing Process of Fiberglass Fabric Weaving To form a cloth structure, the weaving machine, or loom, interlaces the warp and filling yarns according to a weave pattern. The warp refers to the yarn system that runs the length of the cloth. On a loom beam, it is delivered to the weaving machine. Ends are a term used to describe warp yarns. Weft or filling refers to the yarns that cross the warp. They are inserted in the cloth by a weft feeder on the new loom generation, allowing for frequent unwinding. Glass product can be woven in almost any weaving pattern. Plain, basket, twill and their derivatives, unidirectional, and leno weaving are the most common patterns used to make meshes. There Are Five Basic Processes That Make Up The Weaving Process: Mechanism 1: The warp is distributed to the loom by the let-off motion. Mechanism 2: The warp yarn is moved up and down according to the weaving pattern by a warp shedding mechanism. Mechanism 3: a filling insertion system places the filling between the openings of the warp yarns (also known as sheds), which is done by the shedding mechanism. Modern picking systems are primarily used to fill glass products: • Air jet • Rapier • Projectiles • Needle (loom for narrow fabrics) Mechanism 4: the filling between the warp yarns is beaten against the cloth in formation by a reed moved by the beat-up motion. Mechanism 5: the filling density is controlled by a fabric take-up, and the fabric is wound onto a tube on the loom or by a separate winding device. Related Videos:- Plastic Products Market Outlook Building and construction, automotive and transportation, wind energy, aerospace and Defence, chemical, and other end-use industries have increased their demand for fiberglass fabric. Because of their comprehensive set of characteristics, such as high tensile strength, dimensional stability, high heat resistance, fire resistance, excellent thermal conductivity, good chemical resistance, and more, fiberglass fabrics are in high demand in a variety of industries. Furthermore, because of its lightweight, electrical, and durable properties, fiberglass fabrics are widely used in electrical and electronics applications, which is expected to boost the fiberglass fabric market during the forecast period. How to Start a Production Unit of Magnesium Powder from Dolomite Stone

Introduction Magnesium Powder is a refined substance that is used in a variety of crafts. Magnesium (Mg) is a silvery white metal that resembles aluminium in colour but is one-third the weight. It is the lightest structural metal known, weighing just 1.738 grammes per cubic centimeter. It has a hexagonal close-packed (hcp) crystalline structure, so it loses ductility when worked, as do most metals with this structure. Furthermore, it is insufficiently powerful in its pure form for most structural applications. The addition of alloying elements, on the other hand, improves its properties to the point that both cast and wrought magnesium alloys are commonly used, especially where light weight and high strength are required. Related projects:- Pharmaceutical, Drugs, Fine Chemicals, Bulk Drug Intermediates, Pharmaceutical Drugs, Pharma Drug Ingredients Intermediates, Drug Intermediates, Speciality Chemicals, Raw Materials, Fine and Specialty Chemicals Intermediates, Pharmaceutical Bulk Drugs Magnesium is only found in nature in conjunction with other elements, and it often has a +2 oxidation state. The free element (metal) is highly reactive and can be generated artificially. Magnesium isn't as well-known as other metals, but it's an important component of everyday life. Magnesium is used in a wide range of applications, from dietary supplements to large-scale manufacturing processes. Magnesium is widely used to treat constipation, heartburn, low magnesium levels, pregnancy risks such as pre-eclampsia and eclampsia, and a particular form of irregular heartbeat (torsade de pointes). Magnesium has a lower density than aluminium, making it a desirable alloy for its lightness and strength. Related books:- Chemical Technology (Organic, Inorganic, Industrial), Fine Chemicals About Dolomite Stone Dolomite is a natural mineral that shapes rocks. CaMg (CO3)2 is the chemical formula for calcium magnesium carbonate. Dolomite can be found in sedimentary basins all over the world. It's thought to form when magnesium-rich groundwater alters lime mud and limestone after they've been deposited. It is the primary constituent of dolostone, a sedimentary rock, and dolomitic marble, a metamorphic rock. Dolomitic limestone is limestone that includes some dolomite. While dolomite is uncommon in modern sedimentary environments, dolostones are abundant in the rock record. Uses and Benefits They can cover a large area and be hundreds to thousands of feet thick. Dolomite is brittle, like most natural stones, and must be sealed to avoid staining. Although it performs better than true marble, it is susceptible to scratching and etching, so keep that in mind before installing it in a kitchen. Following iron and aluminium, magnesium is the third most widely used structural metal. Aluminium alloys, die-casting (alloyed with zinc), extracting sulphur in the manufacture of iron and steel, and the production of titanium in the Kroll process are the main applications of magnesium. Magnesium is used in materials and alloys that are super-strong and lightweight. A scientist uses magnesium in medicine. It's generally used to treat skin issues, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, mania, and post-surgery recovery, among other items. Magnesium is abundant in this lush, leafy vegetable. Magnesium can also be found in whole grains, seeds, and nuts (most notably almonds). Magnesium is also present in the flashbulbs. When magnesium burns, it emits a bright light that aids photographers in taking images in low light. Related videos:- Chemicals (Organic, Inorganic, Industrial) Processing of Magnesium Powder Mechanical crushing (scratching of an ingot from magnesium card tape fixed on a revolving drum, milling of an ingot), atomization of molten metal, single-roller melt spinning, spinning water atomization, magneto-dynamic system in air, evaporation-condensation, and other methods of magnesium powder processing are discussed. We'll talk about electrolysis, additive friction stir processing, and the plasma transferred arc melting process for producing magnesium alloys. Magnesium powders and granules, as well as their alloys, have a wide variety of uses, including changing metal metallurgical properties, chemical reduction, and pyrotechnics. Characterization of additives in electric welding electrode flux, action as a light source in flares and photoflash bombs, development of constructional purpose details, and armor manufacturing SEM and optical micrographs reveal the characteristic structure and surface morphology of magnesium and magnesium alloy powders. The protection of powder and granule processing is taken into account. Inert gas atomization produces polydisperse magnesium powders with particle sizes varying from a few microns to 0.5–1 mm. The atomization hardware is identical to that used in the production of aluminium powder, and it is divided into required fraction particle sizes. Market Research; - Market Research Report Market Outlook Magnesium Powder is a pretty fragmented market. While key companies continue to drive innovation and, in most cases, digital transformations, market leaders and emerging players with niche offerings dominate the overall competitive ecosystem. Business Ideas and Opportunities in Manufacturing of Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid). Opportunities in Pharmaceutical Sector.

Introduction Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is the most abundant natural hydro-soluble antioxidant used as a dietary supplement for humans. It can be contained in a number of fruits and vegetables, including lemons, oranges, and broccoli. It is also a critical cofactor for a number of metalloenzymes in the human body. Furthermore, because of its antioxidant properties, ascorbic acid is needed by the agriculture, food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries. The pharmaceutical industry is the largest user of ascorbic acid, accounting for one-third of total production. Related Project:- Investment Business Idea in Vitamin C Manufacturing Plant Uses of vitamin C Because of its antioxidative properties, industrially generated L-ascorbic acid is commonly used as a dietary supplement and preservative in the feed, food, and pharmaceutical industries. Vitamin C is an essential nutrient for the human body. It is needed to keep the skin, cartilage, teeth, bone, and blood vessels healthy. It's also used to keep your body's cells protected from injury. It's referred to as an ant. It is now commonly promoted as a natural cure to the common cold. Despite its popularity as an "immune booster," there is no evidence that taking vitamin C will actually prevent or treat infection. Related Books:- Pharmaceutical, Drugs, Proteins Technology Handbooks Production process of vitamin C Additional bio-oxidation steps with Ketogulonicigenium vulgare as a biocatalyst are used in the production process to transform d-sorbitol to the intermediate 2KGA without the use of chemicals. The enzymes involved have a wide substrate variety but exhibit remarkable regiospecificity. The preferences of these enzymes for some of the many isomeric structures that carbohydrate substrates follow in aqueous solution explain this perplexing specificity pattern. Novel enzymes have recently been discovered that produce l-ascorbic acid directly from L-sorbosone, an intermediate in the bio-oxidation of d-sorbitol to 2KGA. This removes the need for 2KGA chemical rearrangement and allows for a direct route from d-sorbitol to l-ascorbic acid. The development of d-isoascorbic acid, the C5 epimer of l-ascorbic acid, follows similar industrial principles. D-isoascorbic acid has the same C5 conformation as d-glucose and can be made more easily from this common carb than l-ascorbic acid. Related Videos:- Pharmaceutical, Drugs, Fine Chemicals, Bulk Drug Intermediates, Pharmaceutical Drugs, Pharma Drug Ingredients Intermediates, Pharmaceutical Bulk Drugs Market Outlook The strong application spectrum in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, animal feed, and processed food industries is driving the market size of vitamin C. It's primarily found in fruits and vegetables, and it's also taken as a dietary supplement. It's used to avoid heart failure, vision disorders, immune system defects, skin wrinkling, and prenatal health problems. By 2024, the global vitamin market could be worth more than USD 10 billion. Vitamin C is a natural antioxidant that protects cells from free radical damage when they are exposed to radiation or UV rays. It is involved in protein metabolism and is needed for collagen biosynthesis. During the period 2020-2025, the ascorbic acid market is expected to develop at a CAGR of 5.1 percent.
