What is a latex rubber thread project report?

A latex rubber thread project report is a detailed project report (DPR) for a unit that extrudes compounded natural rubber latex through fine glass nozzles into an acid bath. The filaments are then cured into elastic thread. The report sets out the process, machinery, raw materials, market, project cost, means of finance, five-year projections, DSCR and break-even a lender needs.

Entrepreneurs and elastic tape makers use it to size the plant and raise a term loan; banks use it to judge whether thin latex margins can still repay the loan.

Also known as: project report on latex rubber thread, latex rubber thread business plan, elastic rubber thread project report, DPR for rubber thread manufacturing.

What a bank checks in a latex rubber thread project report

Rubber thread sells on a narrow margin over latex, so lenders look hard at a few figures. These are the values in our sample report and the reason each one matters.

61.3%Raw material share of sales

Latex and chemicals take most of every rupee of sales. A report showing a much lower share is overstating profit, and banks compare it with the current latex price.

84%Latex share of raw material cost

In the sample, a 10% rise in latex adds about ₹54 lakh to Year 3 cost. That is most of the year's net profit of ₹63.75 lakh, so the report must test it.

1.39Average DSCR, lowest year 1.22

Debt service coverage ratio (DSCR) is cash available to repay the loan divided by the instalments due. Most lenders want it above about 1.2 in every year.

45 daysCredit given to buyers

Tape and yarn makers expect credit. Receivables are the largest current asset in the sample, more than twice the 30 days of raw material stock.

Values are the assumptions in our illustrative sample. Your report uses figures for your capacity, latex source and buyers.

Latex rubber thread manufacturing plant cost in India

Our sample report models an 890 kg per day unit working 330 days a year, starting at 60% of capacity and reaching 80% in Year 5. Thread is priced at ₹514 per kg before GST.

Latex rubber thread manufacturing process

Thread is made straight from liquid latex, not from dry sheet rubber. The whole line runs continuously, so a fault at one stage shows up as broken ends or uneven gauge further down.

  1. Compounding

Centrifuged latex is stirred with water dispersions of sulphur, zinc oxide, accelerator and antioxidant, made in a ball mill.

  2. Maturation

The compound rests for one to two days so the curatives settle in evenly and viscosity stays steady at the nozzles.

  3. Extrusion

Latex flows from a constant-head tank through rows of glass capillary nozzles into dilute acetic acid, where each stream sets into a filament.

  4. Washing

The ribbon of filaments runs through hot water tanks that remove acid and latex serum before drying.

  5. Drying and curing

The thread is dried and then vulcanised in a hot air oven, which gives it strength, stretch and recovery.

  6. Coating and packing

Talc or silicone is applied so the ends do not stick, and the ribbon is laid in folds into cartons.

  7. Testing

Each lot is checked for gauge, elongation at break, modulus and heat ageing before it is released.

Raw materials: latex, chemicals and coagulant

Centrifuged latex with about 60% dry rubber content (DRC) is bought in tankers or drums from processors in rubber-growing areas. Because it is priced by weight and DRC, the report should cost it on dry rubber, not on wet weight.

Who buys latex rubber thread?

Almost all rubber thread goes into garments. Narrow elastic tape makers and covered yarn spinners buy it by gauge and count, then sell to innerwear, sock and garment brands. They approve a new supplier only after trial runs on their own looms and knitting machines.

  • Narrow woven and knitted elastic tape makers
  • Covered elastic yarn spinners
  • Innerwear, hosiery and sock manufacturers
  • Medical stocking and bandage makers
  • Mask, cap and hygiene product converters
  • Thread traders in garment clusters

What sets your price: imported thread from Thailand and Malaysia is the benchmark buyers quote. A domestic unit wins on even gauge, quick delivery and fewer broken ends, not on price alone.

Licences, standards and GST for a rubber thread unit

Business registrationUdyam (MSME) registration and GST registration
GST rateLatex rubber thread is listed under HSN 4007 at 5% in CBIC Notification No. 9/2025 (September 2025); other vulcanised thread and cord is at 18%
Rubber Board licenceThe Rubber Act, 1947 bars buying or acquiring rubber without a licence from the Rubber Board, so a thread unit needs one before it buys its raw material
Product standardIS 14424:2026, the BIS specification for rubber threads, which replaced the 2018 edition
Pollution board consentConsent to establish and operate from the State Pollution Control Board. Acid wash water and ammonia from latex need treatment. Each state sets the category; Odisha, for example, lists rubber goods units with boilers fired by fuels other than gas or electricity as Orange
Factory and fireFactory licence where worker and power thresholds apply, and a fire NOC where the state requires one

Rules checked October 2026. Confirm current requirements with the state authorities and your tax adviser.

Loans and schemes for a latex rubber thread unit

Most thread units are funded with a bank term loan for the plant and a separate cash credit limit for latex stock and receivables.

MSME term loan with CGTMSE

Guarantee cover up to ₹10 crore

Collateral-free guarantee for eligible micro and small units. A unit the size of our sample fits well inside this ceiling.

Cash credit limit

₹109.01 lakh in our sample

Funds 30 days of latex stock and 45 days of buyer credit, which the term loan does not cover.

PMEGP

Manufacturing projects up to ₹50 lakh

Margin-money subsidy of 15–35% for new units. Too small for a full extrusion line; it can fit a covering or tape unit.

Scheme limits change. Confirm current terms with the bank or the scheme portal before applying.

Mistakes that weaken a latex rubber thread project report

  • Costing latex on wet weight

Latex is sold by weight and DRC. Ignoring DRC under-states the rubber you pay for in each kg of thread.

  • Using trader prices for sales

Thread traders' rates include their margin. Tape makers buy close to the landed price of imported thread.

  • No allowance for start-up waste

Broken ends, off-gauge lots and line start-ups lose latex every day; saleable output must allow for it.

  • Leaving out effluent treatment

Acid wash water and ammonia need an effluent plant and acid recovery. Without them, consent can be refused.

  • Full output from the first month

Buyers approve thread only after trials. The sample starts at 60% of capacity and reaches 80% in Year 5.

Latex Rubber Thread project report: frequently asked questions

What is the cost of a latex rubber thread manufacturing plant in India?

Our sample report puts an 890 kg per day unit at ₹461.86 lakh, including land, building and working capital margin. Plant and machinery is ₹217.17 lakh of that. Your cost moves mainly with the nozzle count on the extrusion line and the length of the curing oven. Buying land instead of renting a shed adds to it. Your own report prices it for your capacity and site.

How is latex rubber thread made?

Centrifuged natural rubber latex is mixed with sulphur, zinc oxide, accelerator and antioxidant dispersions and left to mature. It is then pushed through fine glass capillary nozzles into dilute acetic acid, where each stream sets into a filament. The filaments are washed, dried, cured in a hot air oven, coated with talc or silicone and packed.

What does gauge mean in rubber thread?

Gauge is the trade number for thread thickness, and a higher gauge means a finer thread. Elastic tape and covered yarn buyers order by gauge and by the number of ends in the ribbon, and they check that thickness stays even along the length. A plant usually starts with the few gauges its nearby tape makers use most.

What is the GST rate on latex rubber thread?

Latex rubber thread falls under HSN 4007 and is listed at 5% GST in CBIC Notification No. 9/2025-Integrated Tax (Rate) of September 2025. Other vulcanised rubber thread and cord under the same heading is listed at 18%. Rates change by notification, so confirm the current rate with your tax adviser before you price your thread or file returns.

Is latex rubber thread manufacturing profitable?

It can be, but margins are thin because latex is most of the cost. In our illustrative sample, net profit in Year 3 is ₹63.75 lakh on sales of ₹1,056.73 lakh, with break-even at 49% of capacity and payback in about 4.6 years. Profit depends mostly on the latex buying price, reject rates and how much credit you give buyers.

Can I get a PMEGP loan for a latex rubber thread unit?

Only for a very small project. PMEGP gives a margin-money subsidy on manufacturing projects up to ₹50 lakh, and a full extrusion line with curing oven and effluent treatment usually costs more than that. Most thread units take an MSME term loan, often with CGTMSE guarantee cover, plus a cash credit limit for latex stock and receivables.

Rubber thread ka business kaise shuru kare?

Start by finding out which gauges the elastic tape and covered yarn makers near you buy, and at what price against imported thread. Then fix capacity, get machinery quotations and a steady latex supplier, and register with Udyam, GST and the Rubber Board. A project report with costs and DSCR is what the bank asks for before it lends.

Is the latex rubber thread project report PDF free, and can I use it for a loan?

The sample is free to view and download. It is an illustrative report that shows the format and depth of an NPCS report. Its figures are representative and not taken from a real project, so it should not be submitted to a bank. For a loan, NPCS prepares a report for your own capacity, location and loan scheme.
