How We Helped M/s. UAL Industries Ltd Identify and Validate a Calcium Silicate Insulation Board Opportunity

A Kolkata industrial company needed a credible entry into large-scale manufacturing. The research pointed clearly to one product.

Client: M/s. UAL Industries Ltd

UAL Industries Ltd came to NPCS with a straightforward mandate — find a manufacturing opportunity worth building a serious business around. Based in Kolkata, the company had the appetite for a large-scale industrial investment and wanted to make sure their capital went into something with real, durable demand behind it.

After evaluating multiple sectors against the client's investment criteria, NPCS recommended calcium silicate insulation board manufacturing. It's not the most visible product category, but the demand story is solid and growing across several industries simultaneously.

Calcium silicate boards are high-performance, non-combustible insulation materials used wherever fire resistance and thermal stability matter — steel and cement plants, chemical processing facilities, power generation infrastructure, furnace and kiln linings, and increasingly in commercial construction where fire-rated wall and ceiling systems are becoming a regulatory requirement rather than an optional upgrade. India's tightening fire safety codes and energy efficiency standards are pushing institutional demand higher, and the country's ongoing industrial and infrastructure expansion is doing the same from the production side.

The manufacturing process itself — raw material preparation, slurry mixing, moulding, hydrothermal autoclaving, drying, cutting, and quality control — is technically established and commercially proven. NPCS assessed the full plant configuration, machinery requirements, utility needs, and capacity planning as part of the feasibility study, giving the client a clear technical picture before any procurement decisions were made.

On the financial side, the evaluation confirmed attractive ROI and IRR figures exceeding standard industrial benchmarks, with payback achievable within industry norms through disciplined project execution. The import substitution angle added further weight — India still sources a meaningful share of its insulation board requirements from outside, which leaves room for a quality domestic manufacturer to compete on both price and supply reliability.

UAL Industries reviewed the complete feasibility inputs and implementation roadmap and confirmed their decision to proceed. The project moved from evaluation into execution planning.
