Helping Chemino Pharma Limited Step Into Ethyl Acetate Manufacturing — With a Plan That Actually Held Up
A Mumbai-based pharma company wanted to diversify into industrial chemicals. We gave them the research, the numbers, and the confidence to move.
M/s. Chemino Pharma Limited had been operating in the pharmaceutical and specialty chemicals space for a while when they decided it was time to diversify. The idea of setting up a large-scale manufacturing unit made sense strategically — but knowing which sector to enter, how much it would actually cost, and whether the numbers would work out was a different matter entirely.
They came to NPCS looking for clarity. What they got was a complete picture.
Our starting point was understanding what Chemino Pharma needed from this investment beyond just a return figure. They wanted something that fit alongside their existing business, could scale over time, and wouldn't expose them to unpredictable supply chain or regulatory risks. After screening several manufacturing opportunities against those criteria, ethyl acetate emerged as the strongest fit — solid domestic demand, a well-understood production process, and a market growing across multiple industries simultaneously.
Ethyl acetate isn't a niche chemical. It's used in pharmaceuticals, paints and coatings, printing inks, food processing, adhesives, flexible packaging, and cosmetics. India's own specialty chemicals export push has only added to its demand trajectory. For a Mumbai-based company with access to Maharashtra's established chemical manufacturing infrastructure and port connectivity, the location piece also worked strongly in their favour.
We put together a full techno-economic feasibility study covering the Fischer esterification production process, plant layout, machinery specifications, utilities, effluent treatment requirements, and quality control setup. On the financial side, we built out detailed capital expenditure and operating cost estimates, revenue projections at realistic market pricing, and return metrics — IRR, payback period, and break-even analysis — that could withstand scrutiny from a bank or an investment committee.
The Detailed Project Report we delivered wasn't a generic template with the client's name dropped in. It was built around their specific investment parameters, their location, and the market conditions they'd actually be operating in.
After reviewing everything, Chemino Pharma confirmed their decision to go ahead with the project. That outcome — a client walking away informed enough and confident enough to commit capital — is exactly what this kind of work is meant to produce.
