Ethanol is an Agri-based product. Its production is done by sugar fermentation, or we can say that they are by-products of sugars, which are mainly molasses. It often happens during the surplus production of sugarcane, the prices are depressed and the sugar industry faces an issue to make timely payments to the farmers, for the cane prices.  Concerned about these, the government has laid out the Ethanol Blended Petrol Programme (EBFP). The program focuses on blending ethanol with motor spirit. This is done to saving on foreign exchange, increase value addition to the sugar industry, reduce pollution,  and increase overall production. So that sugar enterprises can meet the 20% gasoline mix target set by the government, they must triple their existing ethanol storage space of about 300 crore liters. Thus, this opportunity has paved a great road for the greater profits that can be earned by the nation and all the people associated.
