Plastics, Polymers and Resins, Polypropylene (PP), Polystyrene (PS), Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), Polyethylene terephthalate (PET), Polyester, PA, Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC), Polyurethanes (PU), Polycarbonate (PC), Polyethylene (PE)Projects

Plastics have revolutionized our lives, creeping into every nook and corner of our homes and offices. However, India’s per capita consumption of plastics is still 6 kg compared to 25 kg in developed countries. Consumer plastics mainly comprise polymers such as polypropylene, high and low density polyethylene, and vinyl chloride. Broadly plastics can be classified into two types namely Thermosetting and Thermoplastic. The type of plastics includes HDPE, LDPE, PVC, PP, PS, PETE and vinyl plastics, to name a few.

The plastics industry is highly fragmented. There are about 22,000 plastic processing units, of which three-fourth are in the small –scale sector, which also accounts for a quarter of the total polymer consumption. About 30 per cent of the total polymer consumption accounts for recycled plastic. Plastics have a high volume –to-weight ratio, which makes their collection and transport a major cost factor.

The Indian plastics industry has been growing at a phenomenal rate of 15 per cent over the years. Thus its potential is being utilized properly. The boost in the plastics industry is due to the rapid growth of segments like electronics, packaging, healthcare, consumer durables and telecommunication sectors.Annually around six million tonnes of plastic is produced in the country, with the plastic packaging sector growing fastest.

Reliance Industries Ltd., Gas Authority of India and petrochemicals are major producers of polymers in India. RIL, Asia’s largest manufacturer of polypropylene with a combined capacity of over one million tonnes, holds 70 per cent market share.

India will be the third largest plastics consumer after the US and China by 2010 at over 12 million.Plastic goods consumption is expected to double in the next three years.  Experts have predicted that India’s market for finished plastic goods will reach $300 billion by 2012, while exports are expected to reach a level of $200 billion in the same period. India ranks highest in recycling of plastics with 60 per cent of plastic recycled compared with a world average of 20 per cent. Experts have estimated thatthe basic demand for plastic would be boosted over the next years by the housing, automobile and retail sectors.

PET preforms are a polymer half finished product manufactured using Polyethylene Terephthalate material. This PET Preform is used in manufacturing different types of PET bottles, blow moulded jars through the process of blow moulding. PET is widely used for various packaging applications due to its properties and cost effectiveness. The PET preforms are widely appreciated in different sectors since it occupies less space, hence can be accommodated in a large number then moulded in any shape as per the requirements. The PET preforms are manufactured using horizontal injection molding machines. PET Preform is a polyester material container; it has many special grades and can be offered according to the clients requirements. There is one characteristic of PET preform, which is the product that made form it will be clear and transparent. The surface is smooth and sparking, which can attract the buyer´s attention. This makes the PET preform a delicate product. PET bottles are replacing glass bottles because of the high rate of breakage and the inconvenience of returning the empty bottle after consumption. The consumption pattern is tending to converge with the international patterns and this is how new categories such as sports drinks, juices and non returnable (PET bottles and cans) are catching up in the local market. PET (also named PETE) is a kind of polyester material for fiber, injection molded parts, as well as blow molded bottles and jars. Special grades are offered with the required properties for the different applications. PET is linear thermoplastic (long chain molecule consists of repeating units shown as figure right), white but bluish resin made from terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol through poly condensation. PET is supplied by the resin manufacturers in the form of small pellets, each about 0.05 gram. PET came into prominence in the 1950s as a textile material. Uses & Applications for PET Preform PET containers are mainly used for packaging of mineral water, edible oil, carbonated beverages, alcoholic beverages and other food products, PET bottles/containers are basically manufactured from pre forms. The pre form is blow moulded to form the PET bottles, Key properties of PET are un breakability, sparkling clarity, odourless, non toxicity and hygiene use and PET bottles can be recycled and used to replace costly raw materials used in textiles and insulation Market Survey PET bottles and jars are manufactured by injection blow moulding process. PET molecules get biaxially oriented, which imparts special properties to the containers such as excellent trans parency and sparkle, un breakability, prevention of loss and injury, non toxicity and hygienic use, light weight, other preferred chemical and mechanical properties such as resistance to chemicals and alkalis, recyclability and hence environment friendly disposition. Significantly, PET is approved as suitable for food contact application. In India, PET started being used in a perceptible way only very recently. It is projected that the demand will grow appreciably, especially for packaging soft drinks. Soft drinks are witnessing a gradual shift towards the non returnable bottles due to changing lifestyles and convenience. PET packaging has been doing very well as it offers the flexibilities of innovation, both in terms of pack design and size. Pepsi expects 15% reduction in the share of glass bottles from 65%. Likewise Coco Cola India is not far behind in lapping up the growth in the PET model. India produces around 500,000 tonnes of PET annually. The overall capacity of the industry is rated at about 650,000 tonnes per year.

Disposable Plastic Syringes - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue

A syringe is a simple piston pump consisting of a plunger that fits tightly in a tube. The plunger can be pulled and pushed along inside a cylindrical tube allowing the syringe to take in and expel a liquid or gas through an orifice at the open end of the tube. The open end of the syringe may be fitted with a hypodermic needle, a nozzle, or tubing to help direct the flow into and out of the barrel. The disposable plastic syringe has become an important part of the medical scene since its introduction in the late 1950's. Today more and more attention is being focused on the composition and configuration of this everyday item. It is an instrument which is used for injecting any liquid into the body of human beings or of animals. These syringes are used for injecting the medicine into the body or into the nerve of the body which are not possible to take in through mouth or takes much time in mixing with blood. Disposable Syringes made of plastic Material have been successfully used in medical and pharmaceutical practice for many years. The constantly increasing use of this type Syringe indicates its importance, which is based mainly on the advantages it offers regarding cost and hygienic applications. Uses & Applications Disposable syringes commonly are used in modern medicine for the injection of drugs and vaccines or for the extraction of blood. The often are used instead of reusable syringes in an effort to avoid spreading a disease. Among the common uses of disposable syringes are the injecting of insulin by a diabetic person and the administering of a local anesthesia by a dentist .A medical syringe that is used to give shots to more than one person without being properly sterilized is a potential source of disease. This can be an especially pressing concern in poor or undeveloped areas, where an injection often cannot be given under ideal medical conditions. Market Survey The Health Ministry of the Government of India was planning to have a separate wing to license medical devices under the proposed National Drug Authority. The Indian domestic Medicare devices industry is expected to grow from Rs 60 bn to Rs 76.5 bn in four years. The overall market is estimated at Rs 150 bn. A major part of the demand is met through imports. Devices, such as catheters and stents represent nearly two fifth of the entire range of diagnostic devices and most critical as per international classification. The Government has decided to create separate quality guidelines for medical devices. Presently medical devices are treated like drugs and regulated by state drug regulators under the drug law Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Guidelines would make it mandatory for producers to get their products certified by notified bodies like ISO and BIS. Technological advances achieved by Medicare globally in the recent years have been phenomenal. The Indian scenario has not remained immune to these changes. While IT (information technology) has come to the aid of the breakthroughs, the progress recorded in the Medicare area is as impressive as it is in the IT sector itself. The changes are in concepts, forms and content, as well as applications. These are both, quantitative and qualitative. The transformation is pervasive and has penetrated almost all specialties, from diagnostics to physiotherapy, from cardiology to oncology, from non invasive surgery to transplants. PET Bottle Recycling - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue

Polyethylene terephthalate or PET (also known as PETE) is one of the most common types of plastic. Most single serve plastic bottles, including those for water, soft drinks and juices, are made with PET. Designated by the recycling code 1,. This symbol is nothing to do with the single use or repeated use of PET bottle. Being extremely light, PET bottles help to reduce the emission of contaminants during their transport. Since they require less fuel during transport, they also help saving energy. PET is globally recognized as a safe, recyclable packaging material. PET is the main constituent in a variety of consumer and industrial products including plastic fibers, videotape, audiotape, film, engineered resin, food containers. Although the percentage of refillable PET beverage containers increases all over the world, the majority of PET bottles worldwide are one way bottles which are discarded after use. PET bottles contribute increasingly to the generation of waste and litter especially in developing countries. So, it is very necessary to recycle of PET bottles to saves 65% of the energy for primary PET production and also it offers jobs and income for low income groups. Uses & Applications Recycled PET is converted into numerous products. The five major generic end use categories for recycled PET plastic are: Packaging applications (such as new bottles), Sheet and film applications (including some thermoforming applications, such as laundry scoops), Strapping, Engineered resins applications (such as reinforced components for automobiles), Fiber applications (such as carpets, fabrics and fiberfill). There are a number of emerging technologies that are generically referred to as depolymerization processes. Market Survey The production of PET bottles has been on the rise mainly for beverage bottle use these past several years and is expected to increase further because of their convenience. Recycling of post consumer PET bottles has been gaining great interests and several recycling methods have been proposed. The worldwide strong PET market (and recycling) growth is important. PET recycling seems feasible in two aspects: one is that is the market need and second this market need is just at the same direction with the environmental request to reduce the waste materials in the land fields or the waste in general. Fibre industry is one of the fast growing end use sectors and a major user of recycled PET in India. During the last decade a steadily increasing number of products are made of bottle PET flakes. The very early started conversion of PET scrap to staple fiber was later followed by increasingly higher performance products.

HDPE Pipes - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue, Plant Economics

Provision of drinking water supply, or in other words `piped' water supply to urban and rural population, constitutes an important aspect of developmental programmes in many countries. Among several materials for pipes and fittings, plastics, though of recent origin, have offered vast potentialities both economical and technical, for exploitation by the engineers, architects and builders of the plastic materials, polyethylene (high density). These HDPE pipes and fittings have a high degree of corrosion resistance, are light in weight. Yet tough and durable, have excellent, hydraulic properties, excellent thermal properties, weather ability. High density polyethylene (HDPE) is being used as drainage pipe material because it is lightweight, corrosion resistant, easy to install, and has a low maintenance cost. The design of HDPE corrugated drainage pipe is based on the assumption that the pipe will deform and thus relieve stress. Consequently, ductility is an essential parameter to accommodate allowable deflection during the pipe’s service life. HDPE resins with low ductility can lead to unexpected cracking in the pipe, brought on by a process called slow crack growth. To minimize such cracking, the stress crack resistance (SCR) of HDPE resins must be properly evaluated. HDPE is very flexible and can endure harsher site handling than more brittle polymers like PVC. Flexibility also allows turns in the piping system without the need for additional joints. Uses and Applications The plastic pipes are replacing the conventional pipes because of many advantages they have over other piping systems. Some of the main advantages of plastic pipes systems are light weight, easy to handle and installation, better flow characteristics, corrosion and installation resistant, lower power requirement during water transmission, cheap in length to length cost. Plastic pipes are durable and may last for as long as 50 years or more. Following are the bulk consumers of HDPE/LDPE pipes and fittings in India: Central public works departments, State public works departments, Housing Boards, Urban development authority like DDA, M.E.S., Municipal Boards, Water Works and district boards, Department of atomic energy, Various Jal Nigam, Public Health departments, Process Industries and Power Houses etc. The main objectives of the use of plastics in agriculture are to increase the cultivated area; to improve the environment of the crop, thereby increasing quality and productivity; and to facilitate the transport and storage of the produce. In the broad sense, uses of plastics in agriculture may be classified into two main groups. The first group is much interesting which is for water management and allied areas like lining of reservoirs, ponds, canals; mulching; storage and shading areas on a large scale. The other group includes the application of plastics to replace traditional materials used in agriculture. Market Survey Plastics, a material of the new generation, has been growing up faster than was expected since the 1980s. With restrictions on the use of wood to conserve forests, its importance has grown phenomenally. Because of its light weight, ease in maintenance and natural sparkle, it is substituting not only wood but also metals and glass. The automobile industry, the white and brown goods and the packaging industries, all offer expanding prospects. Polymers are classified into thermoplastics and thermosettings. Thermoplastics include elastomers (unvulcanised), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyethylene (PE), polystyrene (PS), polyurethane (PU) and other resins. Thermosettings include elastomers (vulcanised), polyethylene (crosslinked), phenolics, alkyds, polyesters. The industry has expanded along with expansion of diverse applications areas such as packaging, extrusions, blow mouldings and industrial mouldings for automobiles, telecommunications, white goods. User segments include electrical appliances, domesticware, leatherite, decorative laminates, fittings and fixtures, construction industry (extrusions), automobile components, machinery and equipment, water tanks, pipes and fittings, drink bottles, medical appliances, weather protection. The opportunities are also opening up with the expansion and sophistication of food pro cessing, automobiles, entertainment electronics and appliances. Besides these, industry's contributions have been vital in areas of rural electrification, telecommunication, horticulture, medicare, apart from a perceptible change in living styles and standards. Polymers have found uses in all spheres of life with demand for better materials, greater functional utility, more economical packaging and versatile and durable all weather products. Illustratively, the hilly regions of east India, or the drought prone districts of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu demand moulded tanks in thousands.

Floral foam was mistakenly invented by a chemist named Vernon Smithers in the early 1940's. He created floral foam from synthetic substances or resins which restrict the growth of bacteria, causing the flowers to last longer. Floral Foam is the plastic spongy material that florists use to put their many beautiful flower designs in place. It has effectively replaced the conventional way of arranging flowers which entailed utilizing wet newspaper, twigs, chicken wire and pin holders. The recurring problem in the past with these traditional methods of flower arrangement is the shorter lifespan of the floral designs that may take hours to create. Using floral foams not only helps in keeping the artistic designs in place, but they also make your flowers last longer.
