Best Business Opportunities in Bhutan - Identification and Selection of right Project, Thrust areas for Investment, Industry Startup and Entrepreneurship Projects

The economy of Bhutan, one of the world's smallest and least developed countries, is based on agriculture and forestry, which provide the main livelihood for more than 60% of the population. Agriculture consists largely of subsistence farming and animal husbandry. The economy is closely aligned with India's through strong trade and monetary links and dependence on India's financial assistance. Most production in the industrial sector is of the cottage industry type. Most development projects, such as road construction, rely on Indian migrant labour. Model education, social, and environment programs are underway with support from multilateral development organisations.

The industrial sector is in a nascent stage, and though most production comes from cottage industry, larger industries are being encouraged and some industries such as cement, steel, and ferroalloy have been set up. Most development projects, such as road construction, rely on Indian contract labour. Agricultural produce includes rice, chilies, dairy (some yak, mostly cow) products, buckwheat, barley, root crops, apples, and citrus and maize at lower elevations. Industries include cement, wood products, processed fruits, alcoholic beverages and calcium carbide.

Bhutan’s hydropower industry accounts for 32% of the nation’s economy. The dependency on a single sector is a potential risk factor, the report states. As an alternative revenue generation sector, the government is promoting tourism, which also hopes to generate employment. Like in most countries, the Cottage and Small Industry (CSI) play a pivotal role in the overall industrial economy of Bhutan.

Business Sectors

Agriculture Industry

Agriculture in Bhutan has a dominant role in the Bhutan's economy. Approximately 80% of the population of Bhutan are involved in agriculture. Over 95% of the earning women in the country work in the agricultural sector. Majority of the refugees in this Himalayan nation are also employed in the agricultural sector. Agriculture in Bhutan is characterized by its labor-intensive nature with relatively low intensity of farm inputs.

Major crops cultivated in Bhutan are maize and rice. Maize accounts for 49% of total domestic cereal cultivation, and rice accounts for 43%. Rice is the major staple crop. Agriculture in the country includes cultivation of wheat and other minor cereal crops. Paddy is the primary crop in those regions where proper irrigation is available. Apart from paddy, other crops like wheat, barley, oil seeds, potato and different vegetables are also cultivated in these lands. The primary goals of agriculture in Bhutan are to raise the per capita income of the people living in rural areas, to enhance self-sufficiency in staple crops, and to increase the productivity per unit of farm labor and agricultural land.

Minerals and Mining

The country’s mineral industry was small and insignificant to its economy and was dominated by the production of cement, coal, dolomite, gypsum, and limestone. Known resources included deposits of beryl, copper, graphite, lead, mica, pyrite, tin, tungsten, and zinc. Mining is one of the fastest growing industries in Bhutan generating average revenue of 54 million U.S. dollars or contributing 3 percent to country's GDP.

Industrial mineral products were the primary output of Bhutan’s mineral industry and included dolomite, graphite, marble and slate, and sand and stone. The production of a variety of stone materials and energy fuels had been increasing steadily in recent years and corresponded to the increased demand for these commodities in the construction sector. While major exports of minerals are made in raw form, Bhutan processes some of its minerals into value-added products such as calcium carbide, cement, and ferrosilicon.

Accordingly, Bhutan’s policies on mining and quarrying consider inter-generational equity. This is important since minerals constitute vital raw materials for the mineral based manufacturing industries and are a major resource for economic development of a country. Bhutan is endowed with rich mineral resources that has allowed for the sustainable growth of a mineral based industry and export base. This mineral resource exploitation and value addition has helped generate employment and can contribute towards poverty alleviation.

Livestock Industry

Livestock farming practices continue to evolve in response to rapid modernization and growing economic opportunities in the Bhutan Himalaya. Animal husbandry is an integral part of farming activities in Bhutan and, especially in the high altitude or alpine regions, animal husbandry forms virtually the sole economic activity. The consumption of animal products is an important element of the Bhutanese diet.

Livestock is an integral part in all Bhutanese farming systems. While most households rear livestock for home consumption, livestock farming and nomadic herding are the predominant activities in the alpine and cool temperate zones. Over 80 per cent of rural households own cattle. Other significant livestock include poultry (reared by about 65% of rural households), pigs (38%), horses (23%), goats (15%) and yaks (2%). Inadequate pasture land and poor access to markets are significant constraints to improving production, but increasing urban demand for livestock products is encouraging farmers near urban areas to keep better breeds and improve feed and fodder management. In the livestock sector artificial insemination covers not only Jersey breeds that are high yielding but also for the production of Jatsa and Jatsam that are local high yielding varieties.

The indigenous cattle are the most important livestock genetic resources for food, animal energy and household income in Bhutan. Poultry farming is one of the important livestock farming components in Bhutan.

How to Start a Razor Blade Manufacturing Company

Razor blade steel is a martensitic stainless steel with a composition of chromium between 12 and 14.5%, a carbon content of approximately 0.6%, and the remainder iron and trace elements. The demands on razor blade steel are high. The risk for edge tear-outs must be minimized. A flat and fine surface is important in order to ensure a smooth and comfortable shaving. The thin edge has to have good strength and high sharpness in order to achieve the best shaving result. Straight razors consist of a blade sharpened on one edge. The blade can be made of either stainless steel, which is slower to hone and strop, and holds an edge longer, or high carbon steel, which hones and strops quickly, but has a less durable edge. Since primitive times, shaving has been an important cultural grooming practice. Cave painting show that even the prehistoric men practiced shaving by scraping hair off with crude implements such as stones, flint, clam shells, and other sharpened natural objects. With the advent of the Bronze Age, humans developed the ability forge simple metals and began to make razors from iron, bronze, and even gold. The ancient Egyptians began the custom of shaving their beards and heads, which was eventually adopted by the Greeks and Romans around 330 B.C. This practice was advantageous for soldiers because it prevented enemies from grasping their hair in hand-to-hand combat. The unshaven, unkempt tribes they fought became known as barbarians, meaning the unbarbered. Until the nineteenth century, the most common razor was still a long handled open blade called a "cut-throat" razor which was difficult to use, required repeated sharpening, and was usually wielded by professional barbers. Credit for the first safety razor is generally given to a Frenchman, Jean-Jacques Perret, who modeled his design after a joiner's plane. He even wrote a book on the subject entitled Pogonotomy or the Art of Learning to Shave Oneself. As with the razors of today, Perret's design covered the blade on three sides to protect the user from nicks and cuts. However, it still required periodic sharpening to give a good shave. Similar inventions were introduced throughout the 1800s. Nonetheless, even as late as the early 1900s most men were still shaved periodically at the barber. Razor Blade Steel Characteristics • Low content of non-metallic inclusions. • Smooth dull surface. • Very close tolerances and high accuracy on flatness and straightness. • Good blanking and hardening properties. • Good grinding and honing properties. Stainless Razor Blade Steel is a special martensitic stainless steel with good punching properties, good hardenability and toughness. These material properties and narrow tolerances in width, thickness, flatness and straightness allow efficient processing in the final production lines as well as extraordinary consumer comfort. Uddeholm cold rolled razor blade steel is rolled in mills especially designed for this purpose. Modern heat treatment equipment and automatic gauge controls allow us to produce faultless products according to the required specifications. Some major razor blade manufacturing steps are: • Blanking • Degreasing • Hardening and tempering • Grinding • Sputtering / PFTE-coating Property of Razor Blade Steel Razor blade steel, also known as razor steel, is special type of stainless steel designed specifically to be used as a razor blade. Its defining characteristics are its chemical composition and shape. Jindal Stainless is the world's largest producer of razor blade stainless steel. Chemical composition Razor blade steel is a martensitic stainless steel with a composition of chromium between 12 and 14.5%, a carbon content of approximately 0.6%, and the remainder iron and trace elements. Shape The United States International Trade Commission defines that the shape of the material must be flat rolled coils that are not more than 23 mm (0.91 in) in width. The thickness cannot exceed 0.266 mm (0.0105 in). Market Outlook The expansion of the global razor and razor blade industry is forecast to reach 1.3% p.a. in the coming years. Between 2008 and 2014 the market increased with an average annual growth of 4.0%. Currently, razors account for 55.2% of the global demand while the remaining market share is divided between safety razor blades (40.2%) and parts of non-electric razors (4.6%). China, Germany, Japan, Poland and the United States represent the largest razors and razor blades markets while the strongest annual growth is forecast to occur in Panama (16.9%), Vietnam (10.9%), Iran (8.6%), Moldova (8.1%), and Bolivia (7.3%). Production of Tissue Paper from Recycled Paper

Production of Tissue Paper from Recycled Paper. Recycling of Waste Paper to Tissue Paper Tissue paper is soft, feathery, lightweight, highly absorbent, tear resistant, disposable and relatively strong paper products. The tissue paper name originates from the French word “tissue”, which meaning cloth. Because of the tissue paper is as soft as cloth. It has become an important part in our daily life. Uses of this type of paper are increasing rapidly in worldwide. Overall, a person who lives in a developing country uses some kilograms of tissue paper per year. Tissue can be made both from virgin and recycled paper pulp. Applications Hygienic tissue paper Hygienic tissue paper is commonly used for facial tissue (paper handkerchiefs), napkins, bathroom tissue and household towels. Paper has been used for hygiene purposes for centuries, but tissue paper as we know it today was not produced in USA before the mid-1940s. In Western Europe large scale industrial production started in the beginning of 1960s. Facial tissues Facial tissue (paper handkerchiefs) refers to a class of soft, absorbent, disposable paper that is suitable for use on the face. The term is commonly used to refer to the type of facial tissue, usually sold in boxes, that is designed to facilitate the expulsion of nasal mucus from the nose although it may refer to other types of facial tissues including napkins and wipes. The importance of the paper tissue on minimizing the spread of an infection has been highlighted in light of fears over a swine flu epidemic. In the UK, for example, the Government ran a campaign called "Catch it, bin it, kill it", which encouraged people to cover their mouth with a paper tissue when coughing or sneezing. Paper towels Paper towels are the second largest application for tissue paper in the consumer sector. This type of paper has usually a basis weight of 20 to 24 g/m2. Normally such paper towels are two-ply. This kind of tissue can be made from 100% chemical pulp to 100% recycled fiber or a combination of the two. Normally, some long fiber chemical pulp is included to improve strength. Toilet Tissue Rolls of toilet paper have been available since the end of the 19th century. Today, more than 20 billion rolls of toilet tissue are used each year in Western Europe. Table napkins Table napkins can be made of tissue paper. These are made from one up to four plies and in a variety of qualities, sizes, folds, colors and patterns depending on intended use and prevailing fashions. The composition of raw materials varies a lot from deinked to chemical pulp depending on quality. The production of tissue paper is done by a paper machine which is fitted to a single large steam heated drying cylinder with hot air hood on it. The raw material used is generally paper pulp, though, owing to the technological advancement and innovation in the manufacturing of tissue paper, paper pulp is now used in less quantity. The paper contains the high amount of northern bleached softwood kraft pulp and chemi-thermo mechanical pulps which improve the water holding capacity making them further applicable for various purposes. The key factors driving the growth of the tissue paper industry include changing lifestyles, rising healthcare expenditures, increasing population apart from steady rise in global GDP. However, the growth of tissue paper industry is hindered by increasing demand of hand dryers by various organizations and other environmental factors which impacts it negatively. India tissue and wipes products market is one of the growing categories in hygiene industry of the country. Tissue paper market is segmented mainly into paper napkins, toilet papers, facial tissues and other tissue based products. Wipes market mainly comprises in two categories such as personal care wipes that includes baby wipes, facial wipes, cosmetic wipes, hand sanitizing wipes, feminine wipes, intimate wipes, etc. and household cleaning wipes that contains kitchen wipes, kitchen wipes, glass surface cleaning wipes, bathroom wipes, food service wipes, automotive care wipes. Personal hygiene is of prime importance to Indian consumers. In an age of increased awareness about hygiene and the range of products available, tissue and hygiene in India continues to post strong double-digit growth, with this performance also being supported by rising disposable incomes. Global Tissue Paper Market is expected to post a robust CAGR of over 6% by 2023, in value terms owing to the flourishing tourism and hospitality industry where paper towels and napkins are widely used. Moreover, the increasing population of working women globally coupled with the growing awareness among consumers related to health & hygiene is expected to drive the Global Tissue Paper Market by 2023. Based on the Product, the paper towel segment holds the largest market, owing to its cost-effectiveness and widespread use in the hospitality industries. Based on the distribution channel, the non-store retail segment is expected to lead the market by 2023, due to the convenience factor associated with online as well as teleshopping platforms. Asia-Pacific is expected to grow at the highest rate during the forecast year due to rising disposable incomes, improving standards of living and rapid industrialization and globalization in the emerging economies like China, Japan and India. Tissue paper primarily finds their application in commercial places, driving the growth of the commercial segment in the eco tissue paper market throughout the upcoming period. The growing demand by the consumers for tissue paper in commercial places drives the growth of this application segment in the tissue paper market. Global tissue paper market is expected to witness substantial growth over the forecast period on account of its multiple applications in the growing markets. The drivers of tissue paper industry for the forecast period are expected to be the changing lifestyle of consumers, rising healthcare expenditures, growing population and low penetration of substitutes for paper tissues. Furthermore, tissue paper industry is expected to dominate the market owing to the awareness amongst people for hygiene and cleanliness. Making Toilet / Tissue Paper from Recycled Materials • Waste paper is collected, sorted and brought to the paper plant mill, where it is mixed with water and chemicals, then pulped, filtered, refined and turned into pulp. • The treated pulp comes out of the paper mill on a jumbo roll, which is then transported to a converting tissue plant where it will be converted into the final product (i.e. toilet rolls / tissue paper). • The toilet / tissue paper is then embossed, perforated and transferred onto long toilet logs as per the correct sheet count. • The long toilet / tissue paper logs are then fed to the band saw which automatically cuts the toilet / tissue paper logs to the correct size, ready to be packed. • It is then fed into the various wrapping machines and shipped to the various retailers. Lead Battery Recycling

Lead Battery Recycling Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue, Plant Economics, Production Schedule, Working Capital Requirement, Plant Layout, Process Flow Sheet, Cost of Project, Projected Balance Sheets, Profitability Ratios, Break Even Analysis Lead is a material very easy to recycle and, provided that adequate procedures are implemented; the ?nal product (secondary lead) is indistinguishable from the primary lead produced from ores. About 50% of the lead consumed worldwide is derived from recycled and reused materials. There are many different uses of Lead. It may be used as a pure metal, alloyed with other metals, or as chemical compounds. The recovery of metals from metal scrap has the advantage that it is easier and far less energy dependent than the production of primary lead from ores. The production of recycled lead requires 35–40% of the energy necessary to produce lead from ores. In addition, the recovery of lead decreases the lead dispersion in the environment and preserves the mineral reserves for the future. Recycling lead is relatively simple and in most of the applications where lead is used, such as lead-acid batteries, it is possible to recover it for use over and over again. Lead batteries industry in India is currently estimated at Rs. 40,000 crore with 60% automotive and 40% industrial. Over thousands of player continued recycling activity in India through recovery of lead from telecom, uninterrupted power supply (UPS), inverters, renewable energy and other related industries. Thus, due to demand it is a good project for entrepreneurs to invest. Few Indian Major Players are as under: • Hindustan Zinc • SesaSterlite • Hindalco The demand for lead is expected to grow at 5 to 6%, driven by increasing demand for UPS battery segment as also from increasing market for replacement of batteries in the automobiles. Production of Sterile Water for Injection

Production of Sterile Water for Injection. WFI (Water for Injection) Manufacturing. Water for Pharmaceutical Purposes. Sterilized Water is water that has been sterilized, to ensure an absence of any bacteria in the water. It is used for mixing infant formula for babies, for people with compromised immune systems, and to dilute or dissolve water soluble drugs for injections. Sterile water is water that has no microorganisms living within it. As it cannot transfer pathogens, it is used mainly in the medical setting. Sterile water, though sometimes distilled, is not the same thing as distilled water. As some microorganisms can survive at high temperatures, simply boiling water may not be enough to sterilize it. Special, but not uncommon, equipment is required if one wishes to sterilize water. This kind of water is free of all microbial life. As sterilized water does not contain the same amount of dissolved salt as the human body, overhydration would occur if a physician used the water as an irrigation fluid during surgery or other invasive medical procedures. The value of sterile water is its ability to act as a solvent in many pharmacological compounds that physicians will eventually inject into patients. The water is also a tool in helping physician’s clean wounds without putting patients at risk for infection. Water that is sterile plays a large role in medical research. In many cases, water is necessary to study microorganisms. Using this water is required in these and other experiments as normal or even distilled water may introduce outside bacteria into the experiment. This contamination would invalidate all test results and put other experiments in the same laboratory at risk. Therefore, sterile water is the only acceptable water for laboratory research. The global intravenous solutions market will grow at a steady CAGR of almost 6% during the forecast period. Intravenous solutions have a complete mix of essential nutrients and help people suffering from conditions like diabetes and cancer to get the required nutrients. These fluids are very effective in treating electrolyte imbalances and replacing lost fluids. Products used in intravenous therapy are highly regulated by governments to ensure quality and constant availability to consumers. A wide variety of products, including antibiotics and medications, are used during intravenous therapy to treat patients. Growing incidence rate of chronic diseases, such as cancer, is also fueling the demand for Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), which forms a vital part of the treatment. Intravenous nutrition helps sustain strength, maintains hydration levels in patients, and facilitates faster recovery. Cancer prevalence is forecasted to grow by 70% over the next few decades. This poses a colossal growth prospect for the market. Profitable Project Investment Opportunity in Acetates Production

Profitable Project Investment Opportunity in Acetates Production. Ethyl and Butyl Acetate Manufacturing Business Ethyl acetate Ethyl acetate is a moderately polar solvent that has the advantages of being volatile, relatively non-toxic and non-hygroscopic. It is an important green organic solvent with excellent dissolving ability and quick-drying property. Ethyl acetate (structure shown above) is the most familiar ester to many chemistry students and possibly the ester with the widest range of uses. Esters are structurally derived from carboxylic acids by replacing the acidic hydrogen by an alkyl or aryl group. Ethyl acetate itself is a colourless liquid at room temperature with a pleasant "fruity" smell, b.p. 77°C. Common Uses of Ethyl Acetate Ethyl acetate is manufactured on a large scale, as over 1 million tons are produced annually in the world. This chemical is used commonly due to its low cost and agreeable aroma. • Nail polish remover • Cigarettes • Glue • Paint (as an activator or hardener) • Confections (as an artificial flavor) • Perfume Ethyl acetate has many uses, such as artificial fruit essences and aroma enhancers, artificial flavours for confectionery, ice cream and cakes, as a solvent in many applications (including decaffeinating tea and coffee) for varnishes and paints (nail varnish remover), and for the manufacture of printing inks and perfumes. Ethyl acetate is most commonly used as a solvent (due to its dilution properties). As a high purity solvent, it is used in cleaning electric circuit boards and as a nail polish remover. At a lower purity, it can be used as in printing, pharmaceuticals, perfumes, food, decaffeination of tea/coffee and a carrier solvent for herbicides. Ethyl acetate is also used in coating formulations for wood furniture, agricultural, construction equipment, mining equipment and marine uses. It is also naturally produced in wine during the fermentation process. The main user end markets of these product are the electronics, cosmetic, printing, food and coatings industries. In addition to the common uses listed above, ethyl acetate is also used in the process of decaffeinating coffee and tea, and it occurs as a byproduct of acetic acid and ethyl alcohol in wine fermentation. Ethyl Acetate Market size may grow significantly over the forecast timeframe as it is used as solvent in inks, oil based enamels and adhesives. It also finds application in cosmetics, wine food & beverage and laboratory experiments. It is organic in nature and known as ethyl ethanoate, acetic ester or acetic ether. It is manufactured by Fischer ethanol esterification and acetic acid or ethanol dehydrogenation Hydrogenation process is more economical and commonly accepted process in chemical plant. Ethyl acetate has wide application scope in nail products including nail polish removers, nail polishes and base coats as efficient solvent. It possesses fruity odour and acts as film forming agent in nail paint. It is also used in nail paint remover as it is gentle on nail enamel and quickly removes nail paint. Frequent consumer visits in spa and salon to maintain nails may contribute towards product demand. Rise in nail products demand due to growing awareness regarding personal grooming mainly in young generation may boost product demand in nail care applications. Ethyl acetate is common two components solvents in column chromatography. It has more than four polarities thereby used in difficult separations. Column chromatography is used in wine industry to differentiate various wine types and to study wine vintage. Global chromatography market was valued at over USD 7.05 billion in 2016. Rise in wine consumption mainly in Germany and UK should favour ethyl acetate market size. The global ethyl acetate market has experienced a remarkable growth over the last decade owing to its use in the several industries such as food & beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, laboratories and others. Progressive growth in such industries has propelled the demand for ethyl acetate across the world. Domestic demand is driven by its use as a solvent for printing inks, paints and in pharmaceuticals as well as in exports. India exports significant volumes of ethyl acetate, however, domestic production is not up to full capacity because of low demand. Ethyl Acetate is an organic compound produced by Fischer ethanol esterification and ethanol dehydrogenation process. This process is termed as an economic process and widely used in a chemical plant. Ethyl Acetate is prominently used in automotive, construction, pharmaceuticals, medical, food & beverages, packaging, to produce best quality products in the sectors. Butyl acetate Butyl acetate, also known as butyl ethanoate is an organic compound which is majorly used as a solvent for manufacturing lacquers and other products. It is a flammable colorless liquid which is found in various types of fruits. Butyl acetate is commonly used as a synthetic fruit flavoring in certain food products such as cheese, ice creams, candies and baked goods. It is primarily manufactured by the Fischer esterifaction of acetic acid and butanol isomer in the presence of catalytic sulfuric acid. Butyl acetate also serves as a raw material in certain coating, cosmetic and adhesive industries. Various isomers of butyl acetate are produced in the industry such as sec-butyl acetate, tert-butyl acetate and isobutyl acetate. Butyl acetate is widely used as a solvent for lacquers, since it provides good flow and brush resistance in film-coating resins such as cellulose nitrate, cellulose acetate butyrate, ethyl cellulose, polystyrene, and methyl methacrylate resins. It is also largely used as a solvent in the manufacture of plastics, textiles, artificial leathers, as an ingredient for perfumes & synthetic flavors, and as an extractant for oils & pharmaceuticals. China, Germany, and U.S. are the largest consumers of n-butanol for manufacturing butyl acetate. Growth in this segment is driven by increasing use of paints, lacquers, and cosmetics. The market for butyl acetate (BAC or butac), which primarily is a colorless flammable liquid ester with fragrance, is flourishing on the back of the prosperity of its various end-use industries such as building and construction and automotive. In addition to that, butyl acetate is now frequently used as synthetic fruit flavoring agent for the manufacturing of food products such as cheese, ice creams, bakery products, and candles. It also is used as a raw material for the production of cosmetics, industrial adhesives, and certain coating. Consequently, as each of these industries touch new peaks in the near future, the demand in the global butyl acetate market is anticipated to increment at a notable CAGR during the forecast period of 2017 to 2025. The demand for butyl acetate has been swelling consistently, aggressively during peak season for solvents. In addition to that, increasing usage of water-based coatings by the building and constructing industry as well as growing demand for automotive paints are also reflecting positively on the market. A number of cosmetic products and adhesives are now also produced using butyl acetate, which is further providing traction to the market. Butyl acetate is now a common solvent for the manufacturing of textiles, plastics, artificial leathers, as an extractant for oils & pharmaceuticals and as an ingredient for perfumes & synthetic flavors. On the other hand, hazardous issues pertaining to the production of butyl acetate and the need to continuously monitor the exposure level are obstructing the market from attaining its true potential. The global market for butyl acetate has witnessed a significant growth over the past few years, primarily driven by the growing demand in the Asia Pacific region. Production facilities of the compound are primarily concentrated in North America and Europe, which also serve as the major exporting regions. Developed regions such as the Middle East is anticipated to gain significant share in the butyl acetate industry on account of increasing efforts by their governments to attract various petrochemical and chemical companies.
