Phase 1 of the Ganga Expressway, 12 districts long, 6-lane access-controlled highway from Meerut to Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, was opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 29 April 2026. This is not just a road, <a href=\"https:\/\/hindi.news18.com\/news\/business\/expressways-ganga-expressway-meerut-haridwar-jewar-ballia-route-features-10781602.html\">News18 Hindi <\/a>reports. It&#8217;s a market signal that is of generational size.<\/p>\n<p>The Ganga Expressway, which is already approved with Phase 2 extending the corridor 110 km to Haridwar in the west and 314 km to Ballia in the east and has a confirmed connection to the Noida International Airport at Jewar, is fast emerging as the most powerful industrial spine of North India. Already \u20b946,000 crore investments have been assured in the corridor on manufacturing, logistics, warehousing and agro-processing.<\/p>\n<p>It is the next decade&#8217;s opportunity to acquire and develop land, access capital and supply chain \u2013 and it&#8217;s opening now for entrepreneurs, MSME founders, manufacturers and investors.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Recent_Reporting_Means_Decoding_the_Ganga_Expressway_for_Business\"><\/span><strong>What Recent Reporting Means: Decoding the Ganga Expressway for Business<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>News18 Hindi gave a detailed account of the whole journey of Ganga Expressway from Meerut, through Jewar Airport to Ballia, and explained the transformative elements of the expressway, which include the 3.5 km Air Force emergency airstrip, FASTag toll collection and six-lane expressway extendable to eight-lanes.<\/p>\n<p>What does this translate to in business?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj is reduced from 10-12 hours to 6-7 hours, reducing supply chains overnight.<\/li>\n<li>The expressway will be directly connected with the Yamuna Expressway, Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and Noida International Airport (Jewar) thus forming a multi-modal export highway.<\/li>\n<li>UPEIDA has envisioned several industrial corridors, comprising 214 ha at Meerut for the auto and electronics industry, 240 ha for MSMEs at Sambhal and 103 ha at Shahjahanpur for high-tech industry.<\/li>\n<li>The UP government has sanctioned \u20b9500 crore for two Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Clusters (IMLCs) \u2014 at Sambhal (\u20b9245 crore) and Meerut (\u20b9213 crore).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The News18 Hindi report states that the approval and pre-construction DPR funding of \u20b950 crore went to Phase 2 of the expressway, which will cover Haridwar and Ballia. SA Infrastructure Consultants Pvt Ltd will conduct route surveys. Now the Ganga Expressway has reached the critical turning point as authorities commission the infrastructure, anchor industries commit, and MSME clusters form.<\/p>\n<p>There are several structural reasons to speed up this growth:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Uttar Pradesh boasts of more than 96 lakh registered MSMEs \u2014 the highest in the country which form a strong supplier network for large manufacturers.<\/li>\n<li>The corridor traverses some of the most productive agricultural zones of UP namely Shahjahanpur, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Hardoi, thereby making an agro-processing belt of nature.<\/li>\n<li>Exporters in this corridor will benefit greatly from an export logistics cost saving as the direct air freight access to global markets will be provided by Jewar International Airport, which will open in June 2026.<\/li>\n<li>Defence industries such as BrahMos Aerospace and Bharat Dynamics Limited are already setting up production units along the corridor, providing MSMEs with high value opportunities in the production of components.<\/li>\n<li>The UP-government\u2019s LEADS 2025 ranking, with it being classified as &#8216;Exemplar&#8217;, is indicative of the quality of logistics infrastructure in the state now being investment ready.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Ganga Expressway is not a guarantee.
