The food-processing industry has always been an important contributor to India’s economy, providing not only jobs but also exports. It is with this vision that the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), under the Government of India, launched the PMFME Scheme in 2020 with the recognition of the sector’s potential. The object of the scheme is to lend support and assistance to micro food processing units, especially those operating in the unorganized sector, in the forms of finance, technical assistance, and business support.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The scheme works as a flagship program for the formalization of the sector so as to enhance competitiveness and grow capacity-building, technology upgradation, and access to credit and markets.<\/span><\/p>\n
