This means that even if India achieves oil production self-sufficiency and a higher GDP growth rate than it does now, it will remain a net importer until 2030.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the Indian government is taking steps to increase deepwater drilling activity while simultaneously planning to expand refining capacity and other downstream infrastructure.
