A Successful Business Idea for AAC Blocks and Panels

A Successful Business Idea for AAC Blocks and Panels. Growing Industry for Starting a Business.

Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) is a concrete-like, lightweight material with a lot of small and closed internal voids. AAC is about one-sixth ton one-third as strong as concrete. It is a perfect fit for bearing walls and shear walls of low- to medium-rise structures. AAC blocks and panels are getting popular building materials due to its lightweight and high strength. In a comparison of traditional structural building materials like concrete, wood, brick, and stone AAC are more economically and environmentally superior. AAC blocks and panels ensure building quality with reducing costs at the construction site. AAC blocks and panels production plants are becoming an attraction for many people to venture into due to their various qualities such as increasing focus on green and soundproof building, demand for lightweight construction material, etc.

The AAC Block Manufacturing Process:

Raw Material Preparation: In the manufacturing of AAC blocks the key ingredient is silica rich material like fly ash, pond ash, or sand. The majority of companies in India use fly ash to manufacture AAC blocks. This fly ash is mixed with water to form fly ash slurry this slurry is then mixed with other ingredients such as lime powder, cement, gypsum, and aluminum powder. Additionally, sand can also be used to manufacture AAC blocks.

Dosing & Mixing: The dosing and mixing unit is used in order to make the correct mix to get Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) blocks. The dosing and mixing process is done continuously because if there is a long gap between charging and discharging of ingredients the residual mixture can start hardening and will choke up the entire unit.

Casting, Rising, and Procuring: The casting slurry is mixed and poured into the greased molds. The aluminum used in the mixture is reacted with calcium hydroxide and water to form hydrogen. Millions of tiny hydrogen bubbles are released in this reaction. This leads to the formation of many tiny unconnected cells which causes the slurry mix to expand. This process is called rising. These cells are the reason behind the lightweight and insulating.

Properties of AAC Blocks

DE molding and Cutting: In the last process slurry is allowed to rise and increase strength. During the process, once the green cake achieves cutting strength it gets ready for demodulation and cut as per the requirements. Demolding and cutting are very critical processes in AAC block manufacturing. Both these processes play a major role in defining the amount of rejection as well as the dimensional accuracy of the final product. This step majorly depends on the technology provider

Autoclaving: Autoclaving is done to get the best structural properties and dimensional stability. In this process quartz sand reacts with calcium hydroxide to get calcium silicate hydrate that gives AAC its high strength and other unique properties. Once the autoclaving process is done, the material is ready for immediate use on the construction site.
