How do you identify business opportunities in Africa?

Industry experts are beginning to view Africa as the “new Asia” in terms of economic growth and business opportunity.

Africa is becoming an increasingly attractive hub for investors in light of various economic, political and social reforms that are sweeping through the continent, resulting in a much improved business environment conducive for foreign direct investment. Apart from that, there is widespread development of critical social and physical infrastructure, and there is an increasing pool of well-educated, English-speaking, enterprising workers in most countries across the continent.

It’s true there are lots of amazing business opportunities in Africa. However, it can get very confusing if you don’t know where to look. In this article, I’ll show you some of the hottest business opportunities in Africa that will create more successful entrepreneurs.

Food Processing & Agriculture:  As the world’s population increases rapidly (recently exceeding the 7 billion mark), global agricultural production must rise to feed these growing numbers. Much of that increased agricultural production will come from Africa. The opportunities in Africa’s food and agribusiness space remain huge and will not go out of fashion anytime soon. The demand of quality food is increasing for a growing population, especially in urban areas. This situation presents many business opportunities in food industry sector. It is time for you to seize these business opportunities by starting a small food processing industry and create value-added products from cereals, grains, nuts, fruits and vegetables.

Invest and start a business in Food Processing & Agriculture in Africa. Here’s some projects for investment:

Pharmaceuticals: Africa may be the only pharmaceutical market where genuinely high growth is still achievable. Business opportunities are also present in the manufacturing and distribution of pharma products, marketing and sales, and investment groups. Africa’s pharmaceutical markets are growing in every sector. Between 2013 and 2020, prescription drugs are forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 6 percent, generics at 9 percent, over-the-counter medicines at 6 percent, and medical devices at 11 percent. Africa’s pharmaceutical industry has great potential for boosting economic growth and creating jobs. Given current sustained and rapid economic growth, the African pharmaceutical industry, like that of other emerging markets, is expected to grow tremendously in the coming years.

Opportunities for investment in the pharmaceutical and medical supplies sub-sector in Ethiopia include :

A.     Production of essential drugs:  Essential drugs that satisfy the priority health care needs of the population are selected with due regard to public health relevance, evidence on safety, efficacy, quality and comparative cost effectiveness.

Tourism:   An important factor in the expansion of tourism in Africa relates directly to the number of private companies attracting regional and international investment. Evidence of this growth is in the number of global hotel chains that are investing in major projects in Africa. The rapid growth of tourism in many developing countries also introduces new threats to the environment. Water and energy consumption, utilization of natural resources, and increased wastes are just some potential negative environmental impacts. Through sustainable forms of tourism development many of these impacts can be mitigated. Sustainable tourism development is also smart business, as a growing numbers of travelers increasingly seek environmentally friendly vacation destinations.

High building and construction activities are often signs of growing economies. When the economy looks good, the demand for residential, commercial and all kinds of real estate usually goes through the roof. The successful delivery of the government and the private sector infrastructure programs depends on the effective functioning of many stakeholders – including the building and construction materials sector. Against the need for a healthy building and construction materials sector, the cidb has developed this report on the building and construction materials sector. A key focus of this study has been on:

• Opportunities and challenges in the building and construction materials sector, and specifically;

• Opportunities for new job creation, enterprise development, and empowerment in the building and construction materials sector.

Prestressing is the process of applying a load to a structure deforming, so that it will withstand a work load more effectively or deflect less. Prestressed concrete is that in which internal stresses are introduced to such a magnitude and distribution that the tensile stresses resulting from the service loads are encountered to a desired degree. The prestresses are commonly introduced by tensioning the tensions. Steel wire having a very high tensile strength, called prestressed wires and used in prestressed concrete by embedding it under tension in the concrete members can be come smaller, span greather distances between supports and support greater loads. There are two methods of making prestressed concrete articles namely pre-tensioning and post tensioning. Trains are a very important necessity of our daily life. Lakhs of people travel from here to there and thousands of tonnes goods are shifted from one place to another. You can come in this project. There is very good scope for new investment.

The leather lining applied to the male of female cones of friction clutches to provide a higher friction than that of metallic surfaces. An automobile is an unique and unbeaten achievement which reduces the distances with the speed. It is a marvelous surface transportation media. In the developing India the use of automobile vehicles is increasing tremendously. With the high speed of vehicles, road safety precaution are also increase rapidly. Anymass in motion represents energy. This energy must absorbed or converted to some other form to stop the motion. This job is successfully done by the brakes. But if the shaft is remain connected with the engine shaft then the damage of shaft of any attachment may take place. The other way, to stop the motion of the vehicle, to stop the ignition of fuel in the engine cylinder and then apply the brakes. To avoid these unwanted operations a suitable and most modern technological achievements are made. The automobile industry depends upon its ancillaries for the manufacture and supply of over 50% of the 5000 components that go to make an automobiles. About 75% of the above vehicles are having friction clutch and hence the clutch lining. All the vehicle manufacturers take these items from the respective manufacturers. The consumption of this lining is much more then the production. Also there is a much competition in the market in almost all the automobile ancillaries. There is a good scope for setting up new units in this line.

Doctors with their dedicated spirit serve the nation at large by providing medication and treatment for eradication of diseases, which exchange health and add suffering to humanity. Normally a medical college is associated with a hospital. Hospitals provide the facilities of O.P.D. and admission for seriously ill seriously injured, seriously burnt and pregnant ladies, causalities etc. In the very beginning, there was government owned hospitals where one had to pay no money for treatment. Then, a private ward facility was started in the hospitals. The patient had to pay rent for a private room while medicines and doctors were available free of cost. The private ward helped the patient to avoid the untidiness of a general ward and noise etc. The patients, who were in a position of afford the room rent, were admitted to private rooms. The poor, however, got admission in rushed general wards. Increasing negligence by the doctors of these hospital and the overcrowding in them gave opportunity to private hospitals to have a good business with 24- hours emergency and admission facilities for ill persons. Presently, every city or town in India has number of private hospitals furnished with latest medical facilities available and with more qualified surgeons, physicians and specialist doctors. Aluminium From Bauxite of Gibbsite Variety - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities

Residual rocks, in which the alumina trihydrate and monohydrate minerals gibbsite, boehmite, and diaspore predominate are classified as bauxite. Other residual minerals are developed in the unique type of rock weathering which produces bauxites, and these minerals kaolinite, halloysite, goethite, hematite, magnetites, anatase, quartz and some phosphatic and manganiferous minerals may form the lesser constituents of bauxites. Since bauxites have formed from a variety of rock types, minor quantities of residual minerals resistant to weathering. Traces of the elements barium, boron, carbon, bismuth, beryllium calcium, cerium, chromium, cobalt, copper, hafnium, gallium gold, yttrium, zinc, zirconium have been found in bauxites. Some of these elements are presumably present as secondary minerals, while other are present in unaltered mineral remnants. Halloysite is rare in older bauxites, but it is a common constituent of younger bauxites and with quartz is usually the main constituent of the residual clays underlying younger bauxites. The alumina hydrates and hydrous Aluminium silicates of bauxites are derived chiefly from the weathering of felspathoids and felspars of igneous, volcanic, and metamorphic rocks, form Aluminium silicates, felspars, micas and clay minerals of sedimentary and metamoriphic rocks, and from the less soluble minerals in particularly pure calcareous limestone. Some alumina hydrates and hydrous Aluminium silicates are produced also from the breakdown of amphiboles and pyroxenes in igneous, volcanic, and metamorphic rocks. Although certain almost pure calcareous rocks from bauxite, no bauxite has been found which is known to be derived from coarde high silica or ultra basic rocks. The colour of bauxites, which varies from white, cream, yellow, green, gray, pink, brown, red to black, and particle size of the iron minerals in the bauxites and is unrelaled to the alumina hydrate minerals. There is a fair scope for new entrepreneurs to enter in this field.

Calcined Bauxite - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue, Plant Layout

The industry grow steadily based soundly on new and expanding markets created largely by its own study of the properties of aluminium and of the avenues for economical consumption of this new metal. With this growth in manufacture came a decrease in cost, which was largely passed onto customers, even reducing the price 33 cents per kilograms. The price has gradually increased and was $ 1.58 per kilogram in 1980, reflecting inflation and sharp increases in electrical costs. Aluminium is the major nonferrous metal. Residual rocks, in which the alumina trihydate and monohydrate minerals gibbsite, boehmite, and diaspore predominate are classified as bauxites. Other residual minerals are developed in the unique type of rock weathering which produce bauxites, and these minerals kaolinite, halloysite, goethite, hematite, magnetite, anatase, quartz, and some phosphatic and manganiferous minerals may from the lesser constituents of bauxites. Since bauxites have formed from a variety of rock types, minor quantities of residual minerals resistant to weathering. Kaolinite is the chief clay mineral in older bauxites. Thick residual laolinic clays sometimes envelope and usually lie immediately under bauxites. These residual kaolinic clays become more quartzose and halloysitic at depth near the weathered rock contact. Halloysite is rare in older bauxites, but it is a common constituent of younger bauxites and with quartz is usually the main constituent of the residual clays underlying younger bauxites. Some alumina hydrates and hydrour Aluminium silicates are produced also from the breakdown of amphiboles and pyroxenes in igneous, volcanic and melamorphic rocks. Although certain almost pure calcareous rocks from bauxite no bauxite has been found which is known to be derived from coarse high silica or ultra basic rocks.
